Need Help: How do I get power to stereo headunit in 1st Gen

I am installing a Kenwood headunit in my 1st Gen 4Runner and need to know how to get power to the headunit (The previous owner cut off all of the wires but one from the plastic factory connector).

I think the 12 volt ignition wire is colored GRAY. If so, I hook it up to the RED radio wire...right?

I think the 12 volt battery wire is colored BLUE w/ YELLOW Stripe. If so, do I need to hook the YELLOW radio wire to this also? Or do I hook up one or the other?

Thanks.

Sounds like it will be easier to just run new wire than guess as to what you have.

Yeah Probably

You are right. I can wire it into the fuse box and be done with it.

or go buy a wiring harness adaptor from a car stereo place and be done with it.

I rewired my cars stereo and accesorries and added a second fuse box that carries only IGN power. makes installing crap so much easier and i never blow any fuses.

Could you go into more detail as to how you did this and what kind of fuse box you used? Thanks

www.12voltguy.com fuse box.

i think he has a kit now..but you need a realy that will switch power to the fuse box when the key is turned on. Than just run the proper power wires and ground everything.
