Nothing special and not complete yet, just thought I would put it up so others could criticize it....

is that a 12 or a 15? box looks HUGE for 12...even big for a 15

Is that base with all the holes in it part of the box or is that an amp rack to hide wires?

hopefully bumpin yota will chime in..he REALLY knows is car audio stuff.

Thats a Diamond D9 10" 4ohm DVC

It will be fed 800-900 watts and the box is 1.25 cubes - it is 1.5" all the way around.

The base is the amp rack and all the wires are hidden behind that, i will get some pictures of that when i get it finished - I ran out of daylight today...

1.25 cubes sounds like a lot for a 10"..

800-900 watts max or RMS

Diamond says 600 watts RMS on their website..and reccomends .75 cubes.

i honestly dont know how well that box will sound..probably gonna have a REALLY low tuning and might sound kinda farty. but im not going to hear it so i dont really know!

I know it is a little large, I did that so I could put a 12" in at a later date. This link is the tech sheet that I went off of and where I got the 1.25 cubes from.

http://www.diamondaudio.com/PDF/curr...rTechSheet.pdf

And it will have 600 RMS -- just gotta control the amp...

My 10's only require .75 per speaker 1.25 is a whole lot of air space and will probably defeat any good that your hoping for out of the speaker.

The beauty of a large box like that is the ability to have a great deal of low end extension with not a lot of power. And it is alway advisable to build larger, for you can always add stuff to the inside of the box to make it smaller. But its much more difficult to make an existing box larger!

I think its a little on the large side myself UNLESS its ported.... Port your box, BLOW your mind! But even as large as it is, it should drop quite nicely into the 20hz region, but it will probably start to loose linearity around 50 to 60 and begin to start to sound muddy. That is though, if mms is as high as I think it is and the cms is as low as i think it is....

Looks good, but you have way more than 1.25 cubic feet if it's 1.5' in each direction. 1.5' x 1.5' x 1.5' = 3.375 cubic feet.

It does not look 1.5 feet tall in comparison to it's width so lets say 1.5' x 1.5' x 1' = 2.25 cubic feet.

Bumpin knows what he's talking about for frequencies but I think you've built yourself a box better suited for a 12 to 15 inch sub.

Kat what are the dimensions?

W: 20" external
H: 11" external
D: 16" external

?

ps - Slap me! I just realized that I didnt compliment your build thus far!! It looks awsome, I like how the sub is flush mounted with the round over routering, and you did a 45* bevel around the top of the box! Do you plan on vinyling it?

box looks great. maybe get some foam to stuff in until the 12 goes on. it won't hurt, and might help a little..

I'll be building a box soon enough, so keep this thread going with tips, tricks, and ideas!!!

This is my first box and it is not done yet - I still need to run the roundover bit on the outside edges -

Bumpin is 100% correct on the dimensions - its 1.5" MDF on all sides - I was debating vinyl or testing my new HVLP gun and seeing how smooth and glasslike I could get it on a project that didnt matter much...

The problem I am having is the amp is rattling terribly, so I may be coming up with another idea - I had always seen people mount the amp to the sub -
I wouldnt think a higher end amp like that would rattle so bad - It is a Rockford power 1000 - 25to life series...

I think I am going to have to make them separate somehow....

That thing's a POS......jk......I only said that because you put it up for people to critisize(spelling???) it. It's a sweet box, and I am fully jealous of it, I wish I had a sub/box like that in my 4runner. Let's see the finished product pics when you get them.

amps mount greatly inside the (cubbyhole) on the right side...trim the plastic & wedge it in. if it heats up too much, cut a breather below the door...

thats my plan anyway...

not bad, great craftsmanship.
you should see how mine turn out, haha

fyi for your next project, in an suv you best way to aim a sub is facing the rear with an angle twards the rear ceiling edge, it reflects the sound twards the front a million times better!

stormin- criticize all you like, lol, I know its not the best one out there, but I surely have seen worse/uglier....

mud dog - that would be great if this thing wasnt 9 inches deep - not sure i could get a decent angle and clear the bottom of the sub -- I will look into that thou -

Gunslinger - I have seen that a lot of people mount them in that panel - this amp is pretty big though. Anyone know the measurments on what fits and what hits in there? is one side bigger than the other? -- Here is a shot to pictures and info on the amp

http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/...00_25_To_LIFE/

My thinking was that I wanted the siub in the middle facing up in order to keep things from rattling, I do not have any sound treatments in this thing - Now i dont know what to do with the amp, but this setup is just not going to work...

oh, you've got a gen-2...sory, i should pay more attention next time..i don't know about what size your (cubbyhole) is. does something inside the amp rattle, or will felt fix it?

looking at the big amp, it looks like your either gonna lose some cargo room, or passenger foot room...(you couldn't mount it to the hatch-door, could you?)

it is a great box. i agree with the angling of the sub. but good plan on killing the rattle. perosonally i think theres nothing worse than a solid bass sound being covered by a rattle. blah.

as for the amp, is there any way to plant it up on something? look around and see where it fits well, then see if theres a good way to mount it there.

good luck
