Dash Speakers ... Recommendations?

Hello all, I recently sold my 89 Pickup to a kid that works for me. It has an ok 40w head unit but the dash speakers are shot. These are currently the only speakers in the truck. The kids birthday is coming up in the beginning of June and I'd like to get him a set of speakers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Richard

Do you recall the model number so I can look for them online?
Thanks for the response
Richard

Thank you very much. That was very helpful to me. I'll get a set ordered.

Pioneer TS-1018 fits and plugs into the dash for that model. It is a 2-way speaker that sounds way better than OEM.

Also VERY worthy of looking into are Eclipse PointSource 4". As far as coaxials go I have yet to hear one that beats it.

Now braxial sets, yes many beat it, but in the coax catagory nothing touches em.

Also worthy of note, he needs to know that he is NOT going to get any bass out of those 4" speakers. If he does want more output than 4" can deliver, I can custom build some kickpanels for him for 150 and can probably hook you up with some decent 6.5's for about 50.

Im currently working on a set for Greg here (they happen to be 1st gen kicks which are proving to be a little tougher than expected, but nothing too bad...hehe)

ps - what all have you done to that LS1? My best friend down here has an '01 TranAm with 2.73:1 gears (yikes!), built 4l60e, shift kit, 3400rpm tpi stall, true duals, w/muffler delete, SLP lid, MAF translator, ls6 plenum (or whatever the hell that cool lookin thingy is that all Gen IV smallblocks now have) and a 125 dry shot. Its kinda quick...haha before the stall and tranny work he turned in a 12.4 @ 127 with a 2.1 60' iirc. Now that he has those two things, track times should drop a good deal, but needless to say he needs WIIIIIDER tires than 245s right now!! LOL

I'm impressed, it sounds like you really know your audio I read your thread and I'll probably want a set of kickpanels for mine as well. For right now though, I'm just trying to get the kid squared away with some tunes. I'm pretty ignorant to auto sound systems however. Can you PM your phone number so I can discuss these options further with you?

The Vette is bone stock other than intake and exhaust ... and a few cosmedic enhancements. I use it mostly for road trips and really like the 27.4 MPG I get. Plus it's already plenty fast for me as is. It does high 13's in the quarted and is suppose to have a 184 MPH top end. Fastest I've taken it so far is 178 MPH. So it does me just fine as is
Thanks for your post,
Richard
