Question CD Receiver Won't Turn On

I was driving my car the other day and looked down to notice my receiver had turned itself off. After fiddling with the buttons for a minute it turned on and worked fine. Then I let my brother drive my car and he said he couldn't get the receiver to turn on at all. So the first thing I did was check the fuse in the kick panel and it was good. Second I took the receiver out and checked the fuse in the back of the receiver and it was good as well. I really don't know what more I can do? Is my receiver blown?

The fuse might be fine but the connectors may be loose. I would pull that deck out again and check the power and ground wire connections thoroughly. Sounds like a loose connection, that or the deck is on its way out.

Probably a loose connection. Use a testlight close to the radio to see if it is getting power.

check to make sure that the face plate has a good connection to the actual CD player.

If that's not the issue, pull the deck, make sure the molex plug is plugged in securly and that none of the pins have been pushed back out of it. Then check the connections on the two harnesses that you should have silver sodered together. Cold joints are not allowed. Finally check all pins on all molex plugs to make sure none got pushed out....

Thanks for all the replies. I'll go out and take it out tomorrow and test all these things. I'd love for it to be just a loose connection. I'm a poor college student at the University of Tennessee. And I bought my first receiver and it worked well and some reason i wanted a little nicer one so I took my first one out and replaced it with a better model. Then a friend of mine who was having some really hard times I gave him my first receiver for free and then my receiver quits working. Thanks for the replies again. I'll work on it first thing tomororw.
