Set in Bumper mounted winch

Need so pics or some ideas on mounting my m8000 into the grill area of my 84
4runner. I dont want a huge bumper sticking out in front messing up my approach angles.

If you can get a hold of the September 2005 issue of Petersens there is a nice one on the give away Toy on page 118.... That's the one I'm modeling mine from when I get my winch....

I believe that Flamedx4 did it on an 84 4Runner and his previous pickup. I remember seeing pictures of them a while ago, but can't find any now. There was another guy who posted up pics of the one he did but I think it was a 3rd gen 4Runner.
Found this in another thread, its not a 84' but it may give you an idea. The guys name is Max

Pirate has tons of pics on that subject. Just go poke around over there. Search if you have a red star - if not, use Google to search Pirate. (Instructions over there somewhere).

Thats exactly what i wanted to do with my winch. Stick it in the frame rails. But i need to know how they did it. The after pics show a great looking bumper but hard to tell what was cut and what was welded to.

I had this saved in my computer from a while back. I think I got it off of the ttora forum. Dont believe there is much to making something like this. Shouldn't be to hard to make something like this. But I think they say it fits best with like a 1" body lift or something like that.

Now i wish i had the mag even more. That is the kind of bumper i am looking for. Small tubes with filler plate to close up the open spaces and make it stiffer.

I giving up on doing this. I am unsure of the attach points being strong enough and the work involved. I am going to buy a winch bumper. This will be the most expensive thing on my whole truck.

Here is what i did on my old pickup. I never got arround to building a bumper arround it, but it will give you some idea of what can be done.

The only thing that stuck out really was the roller fairlead.

Thanks for the pics that REALLLLY helped alot. I also have 475 more reaason to make my own again. Cause thats what a winch bumper for my 4runner cost. I just did not want to cut the support member behind the bumper. But i guess it will be ok.

Got the plate from BudBuilt, and i used my lincoln 135 to weld both the winch plate and the front crossmember brace on.

I mounted a multi mount. I knew i would only use winch every now and then and it was not worth the extra weight and worry to mount it permenatly. I got the mount and wires and warn 8000 for 150 bucks. Winch is super sweet. I had build a mount that i was going to put on the truck but really did not like the fact that i would loose my front bumper with it.
