O i really did not understand what you meant about your bed plans till now, i like that plan it will be really unique and could be very handy, it will be very high to load dirtbikes into though you should keep that in mind, lifted beds are high, then raise the deck of it. i think it could be really cool though. and yes my camper has 5 grommets on each side and a bungee strung between them from side to side. although i did drive 35mph without any and had no problem at all 5 is overkill but thats the way i like to do things some times.

ooohhh ok i gotcha. man i think thats a great idea, room to haul stuff, whiel still being able to use the stock bed for other stuff. sounds like a great idea. whyd you trade your truck??

bttrs--can you take a pic of one of the gromment set ups? I get what your saying just wanna see how you fabbed it up. And yes I already had trouble loading bikes lol, Im gonna make a wider ramp and just ride them up in there for this one, I also only plan on lifting this truck 3-4 inches. I want buldge fenders so I can still get my full flex on 33s or 35s whichever i choose to run. so It wont be too much higher but will still cause some problems loading other stuff, but you have to sacrafice something somewhere haha.

I coonhunt out of the truck and this bed works really well for my needs. It is lighter than the OG bed and IMO looks way better.



I can do stuff like this and have about every option I want for strapping stuff down.

sounds like a great idea!! just a thought, but how heavy will the bed be if you are making all the add-ons out of steel?
I am looking to do something similar but i'm in the wood-steel debate atm lol

Dont take the bars all the way to the back of the truck, bring them down closer to the cab for several reasons... you wont then need to use johnny joints you dont need to use any kind of flexible joint for bar removal reasons. Just use a bolt dude. But bringing them that far back that long they're not doing much for a rollover, they'll cave if anything hits on the bar itself.

HREW or DOM, dont matter ... 1.5" is to small, 1.75 for any cage. You got a tube bender? Talking 1.5 to 1.75 and you just wrastled up two different dies.. not to mention what size dies.. anyhoo... need a bender to do this up proper, harbor freight poop pipe bender is good for unbending a few degrees, bout it

You got an original idea and should go for it but dont get to in over your head. Plan it out carefully before you make that first cut to that pretty bed
