of course its do able. Why not build them without then weld them on later if you decide you so desire. sounds akward looking to me. And would hey interfere with the door opening? snagging your feet when getting in?

It's not turbo lag...its foreplay ~~~~~~~~ 85 pickup, fancy paint job, 7mgte swap, 6" Marlin Crawler lift, 35x12.5 MT baha MTZ for street 36x12.5 swampers for fun, 5.29, ARB locked front and rear, no crack dash :) enough gauges to make a helicopter pilot jealous, numerous other doo dads and I still get 25mpg and can race mustangs on the highway. Sounds like a door damage multiplier to me with only bottom bracing.

I'm thinking that there will not be much protective value above the corner and no way to improve that protective strength without side bracing, unless you go exo.

the lat two are what I was worried about. and yes the would block the doors... that's why they would be removable... on trail only.
@ web, me no structural engineer, and it being a big old lever welded to my frame... hence checking with y`all. @ MG, even with exo (it looks like) most exo's lack cross bracing, i would want to move the bed away from the cab 4" and add a X there...
