Possible future money hole
Do to some recent vehicle troubles that I thought I had all got worked reappearing (
)and with a upcoming 1600 mile road trip coming up. I've almost decided to get a newer vehicle (I've been doing research for while). I had run by the toyota stealership yesterday and came across this beauty:07 FJ Front and Rear Warn bumpers, Pro Comp Wheels, CB, 3" lift and etc. 8,xxx miles ![]() Went by today to talk with a friend that works there and the vehicle had sold in less than a day. They had another FJ same year but with out all the goodies and 48,xxx miles. Same yellow color and never been off-road. Both had rear-lockers (a must have and then some). Sat there for about 2 hrs. talking with my friend and looking at prices and what not. If your a first time buyer finacing a car it sucks (Ive always paid cash, don't ask how, anyone want a 4runner) and is a hassle but once you've done it your fine the next time around. Test drove it and it sounded and ran fine, trade in on mine with 194,xxx miles sucks (I'll leave it at that). The bigger blind spot and smaller windshield would take some getting use to but overall not bad. Just unsure at the moment.Went back and got some quick photo's ![]() ![]() Out the door with trade and no money down 17,925. Good, bad?

That is a clean rig.
I am not up on what they go for though. I have had mine since July of '06 when I bought it brand new, and I jsut turned 17K I think on my vacation this past week. What you need to look at too when looking at used ones is if you want a stone stock one, or one that has had some mods done to it. FJs look killer with front aftermarket bumpers and a winch, but you also need the lift kit to support that much weight too. I got $1.5K for the trade in on my '91 4Runner, not much, but I was happy to get something for it. Those Pro Comp wheels on the first one are the same as mine, the 7089s. ![]()

Your 4Runner is 12-13 years old and it has a lot of miles on it. It is not a lost cause, it just needs maintenance. Which for a vehicle that old, you the owner really needs to do. It is not going to be economical to pay the dealer to track all the little stuff down on an aging vehicle.
That being said, if you don't have the time to track all that little stuff down, then a newer vehicle that will give you 10+ years before you get to this point again. You have no clue how many countless hours I Have put into that red truck, making it right again. When people spout out that they are going to buy an 85, 92 or what ever, they line the "mods" list up but fail to realize the basic maintenance list is probably longer and more expensive. Things wear out, even Toyota Trucks.

Might be going back on my word here for a green 2000 4runner with 100,xxx less miles than mine, already has an elocker and a few other things I had in mind for mine (would just need new tires and sliders)
Anyone want a 96 4runner? ![]()

We will see how wise a choose this was on my part but with over a 100,xxx miles less than my 4runner I couldn't pass it up (I've put 50,xxx miles on mine in a year and half of ownership more than the previous two owners).
Plus, it already has the magic little button (grey mod search has begun ). The rear shocks will need to changed out shorty so a phone call might be made in the next little while. ![]() ![]() I'll be sad to see my baby go its taken me to more places than I can image and has put with my crappie trail driving and that black paint is just so dang sexy .

Swap the rear links and budbuilt over before you trade it in. The Stubbs HD-SKO are better than the standards.
As for gray wire. here you go: http://www.sonoransteel.com/rear_locker.html One little wire and a solderless tap.

Selling this myself the dealer was going to kill me on trade because of the mileage and will need to sell it before I do to much. Thanks.

If you want you can bring the skids over and use the 20 ton press. Just bring a 6 pack of good beer and knock yourself out.
