Jon and Steve, thanks for the offers. I may take you up on that. Maybe a little wrenching then barbeque/adult beverages. Perhaps we can get it knocked out in short order. Funny how folks like to hang out when a truck is getting cut up.

What you really need is a plasma cutter........
Mine only runs on 220V.

...oh and everyone should bring their trucks and park 'em all over the place. And maybe we can have a few side projects going on too. Yeah, the HOA is gonna love it.

Welding equipment has a different plug than a dryer, but they are both 220V. If you want to buy both ends and make an adapter that would work. You also need a big compressor to run the cutter.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner!
I'll talk to you about what all would be involved with the cutter. Thanks. Though I can also visualize this scene... Bubba: Mike, what happened ta yer rig? Mike: Well, Schaefer was kind enough to offer me his plasma cutter for my SAS. I'd never really used one before though and in my excitement to get to work, I didn't think to practice on some scrap first, and well..... You see whats left of 'er. Bubba: Dang boy, you make even me feel real smart like.

If the plasma is involved, I will have to operate it. It is a dangerous device.

I built an extension cord for my 220V when I was running the welder off the oven in the kitchen.
Yes, I used to slide the oven out and plug in my welder. Anyway... there is a good chance it would work for you Mike if the plugs are the same. It would be easy enough for you to by different end(s) if needed. It's the wire itself that's the spendy part.

I suppose if Schaefer brings tools he'll drive the Tundra. Otherwise if we could get him to bring the buggy, it would look like hillbilly heaven out there with Jon's being the only "civilized" vehicle in sight. Hoo-boy, I can see the for sale signs going up already!! Yeah. Big dirty trucks. Loud music. Grinders. Sparks flying. A tub of beer and ice. Maybe I could roll the barbecue out front and we could rig up the 220 straight out of the breaker box. All we would need then is some loud women in tube tops and the picture would be complete.

Well when I get there I can park out front and we can put it on blocks and pull the tires. We wouldn't want to confuse your neighbors.
Is your circuit breaker box on the garage wall? If so we could just install a 220v outlet right there and forego the dryer/stove/extention. Otherwise it would be prudent to put your clothes dryer on the front lawn for the time being. We'll have to temper the brew intake and shackle Shaefer while he's manning the Plasma cutter lest my truck lose its IFS bits too.

![]() Ooooh... multiple SAS projects. Excellent...... (hands rubbing together with sinister glint in eyes) Yes, I can see it now... I have that extra axle out back but what about....Yeeeessss! We can put my old rear springs up front. But alas, it's a 3rd gen with it's sordid passenger side drop. Oh, what to do? Perhaps I will consult with the evil scientist sschaefer3 to see what sort of mad abomination he can conjure. And at last, at last, the off road world SHALL BELONG TO US!!!!! AHAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA.

Mike, i'd also be willing to come out and help, watch or whatever. I also have a plasma 110/220. This could be a full demo party..

Make sure you are mindful of running a welder or plasma cuter off the dryer outlet. Most dryers are set to run off a 30amp circut. Most 220v welders pull around 40-50amps. Don't know if Schaefer's plasma pull that much or not. You run a risk of starting a fire if you overload the circut. Not good at all.
BTW, I'd be happy to help also.

Game on boys
Looks like everything is lining up nicely for an 11/22 chop. I get back from DeSoto on the 8th, drop the truck to Steve the 9th or 10th. Spend a couple days at that job thing I've got, then 11/22.... chop chop. Who's in? I'll need to stock up on Brats.
Also Zuk can work on my rear diff that w/e (maybe get 'er done the same day)

Mike -
Unfortunately I will be out of town that weekend, hiking the Grand Canyon. I have been meaning to give you a call about that trip too. You will probably hear from me one of these days. Anyway, it looks like you will have plenty of hands to help. I wish I could join...if anything changes be sure to post up and I will see if I can make it over.
