3rd gen rear bumper idea, for us AZ folk

Check it out. I would put the plate we were talking about over the side tubes, because unlike the tacoma we dont have sheet metal behind our bumpers.

It's nice! Too bad It's not for a 1st Gen!! LOL - I need ideas on fabbing up a rear and front bumper anyways! It gives some good ideas!

We need to do some measuring and drawing! John. I'm sure we could adapt it for your truck! We just need to get the idea down pat and then we can change the measurements!
I'm guessing that most of these custom rear bumpers use the trailer hitch mounting process. Any one have any pics?

I got some info (a diagram I found online) on a decent front tube bumper. I got a old school Tomb Stone style Lincoln ARC 225 Amp welder I have been itching ot start laying some beads with. I need to go find a decent metal supplier to get some thoughts for fabbing and welding up some protection.

Then I am going to paint TROJAN MAN all over them!

be careful not to go over a 33 for that kinda carrier, that is a long swing arm and it would have a lot of weight including those blitz cans and a 33. nice idea though. i wanna do a swing out on a custom bumper but id rather stack blitz cans on my load warrior or make a storage unit inside for em.

I would put the tire next to the pivot and the cans further out. The cans will be empty except on long runs. Plus the more the tire is to the side the better the visibility.

awesome bumper. I'd like to see the lower side tube straight rather than angled down. Mount the swing hinge on the side.

LUV24BY, I got some marlin sliders i need welded on. I picked up some backing plated to go along with them. watcha think?

I am with 96, I can weld but they aren't the most beautiful welds! I have welded a bracket onto a frame rail, it took me 10 blows with the hammer to get it off. They might be ugly but they hold!! LOL

I'm game if you are. Just give me some notice. Sundays would be best. I have to brush up on the ARC.

ugly sounds good to me. if you come out sunday, we can talk about it then.

i took a few quick measurements tonight and made a few quick drafts (i'll bring 'em sunday). i'll try to get better measurements saturday, may drop the bumper to get a better idea of acceptable angle and such.
