Weber Carb vs. Stock Carb Rebuild
not sure if i should buy a rebuild kit for stock carb or spend the money on a weber carb. my rig is a dual purpose and i want to keep the hwy mileage. im running a stock 22r with 36" swampers, 5.29's front and rear. any advice from those who have used both would be great! just making sure the money i spend on the weber vs a rebuild will be justified. thanks again!

it's a 32/36 DGEV progressive with the electric choke. I don't have the adapter for the 22r; I was gonna put it on an old Subie I had. It does have the chrome air filter, though. You could easily find an adapter on ebay. Here's one with no bids ending in a few hours: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WEBER...Q5fAccessories

I still prefer the stock carb, tho it might depend on what carb you got. I don't appreciate the cali models (with the extra emissions)
I've rebuilt both, worked on both and still prefer stock.
I'm not going to try and persuade you either way, people have loved and hated both. But, might consider the $50 kit vs the $400 Weber.
The Aisin isnt that hard to rebuild, you can do it in about 3hours. I reccomend using an egg carton to sort the pieces and just take your time.
cheers!

my buddy's got a weber and has nothing but trouble out of it, i'm running a rebuilt stock carb and it runs great. i had to run a vent hose from the front venturi off the carb into a small bottle under the cab. when i would get it vertical it would let fuel run over into the rear of the carb causing it to flood and stall. granted it don't have the response of the weber. i guess it's up to how much money you want to spend

When I had the same decision to make, I went with Weber, but they were a lot cheaper then...
I had the 32/36, and it was GREAT. Combined with the header, it made noticeably more power than stock!
