SA Hubs on IFS spindles/snouts
I hate starting threads but couldnt find anything here or pirate. There is a million and one write ups on how to put the IFS spindles and brakes on the pre86 4x4 solid axle trucks this i know. But it makes me believe the process can go the other way around.
I am Building a 2wd desert truck, extending the arms, and going to use a set of IFS spindles and hubs as the base. The problem is that it pushes the wheels so far out that it changes the KPI to a point that the upper arm would be really short.
Any input would be appreciated especially if you have experience swapping these parts, and REMEMBER i dont have 4x4 and i have a backing plate for the IFS spindles.

I personally have not attempted switching these components around. At some point I may do some swapping around with IFS stuff onto my 1985 to widen the front to match the wider IFS rear axle housing when I swap that. When I do I will have the Live Axle components to mess around with. Sorry that doesn't help you right now!
But, I have heard of people doing what your talking about and think Tech Tim has investigated and maybe even done it?
From my observation on the subject I think the steering arms coming off the spindle and outer tie rod ends would end up rubbing the sidewall of the tire. I also think the UCA and upper Ball joint will also rub. People with drop bracket kits will find the clearance issues even more so.
It might make more sense to run a rim with a deep backspace. For example my 4 Runner, with a combo LT drop bracket kit, I found the 15x8 with a 4.25" backspace and a 35" tire sucks the track width in as much as possible (1/8" clearance at outer Tie Rod End).
On rigs without a combo kit and smaller tires, the SR-5 factory aluminum rims with a 15x7 and 4-3/4" backspace fits a 33x12.50 (w/ 1/4" clearance). Run a 31x10.5 tire and you might be able to fit a 15x6 with a 5" backspace?

thanks for the feed back. I have multiple sets of aftermarket wheels to play with 15s and 17s...I saw a set of SA hubs for sale and and thought i would snatch them up for 50$ but that fell through, so on the hunt again. I would hate to spend a dime on new ones and they dont work.
THanks again

when I swapped my SFA hubs for IFS hubs I put the SFA hubs on my 94 4runner parts rig so I can still roll it around. the tires rub on the UCA, but with different back spacing or bigger rims it would be fine. now I'm not sure about the brakes as I took the calipers off for my truck.
