Lift question for 00 4runner
Lift question for 00 4runner
Hello everyone... I did a few searches and couldn't find the answer I am looking for so here it goes.
I have a 00 4runner limited with 4wd. I want to get the OME lift but because the 00 4Runners are 1" higher than the others, would that mean with the OME, I would only see a 1.5" lift?
If I just got Bilstein shocks instead, would it lift it alittle? My rear seems to be sagging a little, should I get some kind of rear spacer?
Sorry for all the questions, I am new to the lifting thing.
Also would I need the diff drop?
Thanks
Darrin

welcome to the site, a shock shouldn't lift your truck, however i have heard some people say that because its stiffer it does... shocks should never be used to lift the truck..... rear spacers will lift the rear up a little bit...

well, different front coilover type struts/shocks can give you a lift or drop. it all depends on where the spring seat is located on the strut/shock body. they don't "droop" or "sag" over time though. if that happens, then it's 100% the springs that have sagged.

"its the 99 highlanders that are 1" higher. 01/02 are 1" lower. the rest are what is considered "normal"."
I have never heard this before. I have an '02...what makes it 1" lower than other 3rd gens? shorter springs or something?

actually, the 99 4wd's and some of the 00 4wd's had an extra wrap in the coil springs, making them approx 1" taller. in mid 00, they went back to the normal 8-wraps like was used from 96-98. then, in 01 & 02, they went a touch shorter from what i understand, and used the 2WD length coils on all runners - about 1/2" shorter than all other 4wd runners and 1.5" LOWER than a 99 or early 00 runner.

so, if i ever install an OME/ tundra setup (which will hopefully happen someday), i could expect to get a little more NET lift than others in the front AND rear?

hmmm...another just thing crossed my mind. i was going to get new tires soon, and was looking at upsizing a bit to BFG A/T 265/75/16's. normally people say these will fit on a stock suspension with no rub, but if mine is lower, will i have problems with rubbing?

you will gain more "net" lift, but you'll still end up at the same place as any other runner if you go w/ OME. you won't sit any higher than them.
