add a leaf question
hey guys, i have a 92 toyota pickup and am looking to lift it about 3 inches. I am planning on taking some stock leaf springs from another yota and putting them in to get my lift.
My question is, has any body done this? and if so, does it ride rough?
I am also wondering what kind of shocks to get. I have heard that some ride rougher than others.

doesnt matter, they have the same arch as a stock set from another yota... all it will do is make the ride horrible... also the truck is 13 years old.... the springs sag.....

an actual add a leaf, chevy springs or a new custom built pack from alcan, or downey, etc....
what are planning to do for lift in the front? torsion bar twist, balljoint spacers?

I have a set of add a leaves, i like them, no noticable difference in the ride, and they sag very little if any when i tow. I didnt do anything to my front end although i need to now. When i first put the add a leaf in it raised the sagging back about 4 inches and it sat level with the front until i put the bull bar on it....now its leaning slightly to the front. I need to twisht the torsion bars, but i dont want to screw it up and i dont want to pay to have it done. Maybe one day when i have a better job i will do SAS and it wont be a problem anymore

just to try and clear things up. hes planning on adding the other stock leaves into his stock pack. so taking leaves from another PU and using those leaves as add a leaves. does this not work? i've been told by people on a ttora board that this would provide lift but wont stiffen up the ride as much as the real add a leaves.

kevy, that was my point... add a leafs are arched more than a stock leaf pack..... thats why they force the stock leaves to arch mroe and give lift.... more leaves from anotehr pack have the same arch, and will jsut stiffen up the ride....

best thing to do is a procomp AAL (wil give 1.5"), ($25), and buy some 1.5" shackles ($50) from suspension connection, I bout them for my 94. Here is the link for the shackles (4wheelparts , and i recommend 4wheelparts for the AAL. this will give you the 3" in the back that you are looking for. And Jim is right, you have to have mor arc in you springs if you want lift.

I run a custom pack built up out of two sets of rear leaves up front and it rides and flexes very nice and gives some lift as well:

As noted you probably won't get a lot of lift (like the 3" you are looking for). Maybe 1-1.5", add a longer spring shackle to get the rest:
