Unhappy 2nd gen lift questions

Just installed a OME h.d.1.5 springs and s.w. torsion bars. Also 33x 12.50's procomp xterrains on 10x15 rock crawlers. Problem is it rubs unless I crank the t-bars all the way up. I've seen several post about ball joint spacers and need more info. Who makes them? Will this allow the t-bars to be cranked back down? Any ideas...........

Unhappy 2nd gen lift problems

Looking for 1.5 ball joint spacer to use on '91 4runner. The front rubs unless the torsion bars are crank almost all the way. No flex at all. Im running OME 1.5 springs, shocks(front/rear, s.w. torsion bars, 33x12.50x15 procomp xterrains, 15x10x3.75 rock crawlers

The standard recipe for fitting 33x12.5s is:

-1.5inch coils
-crank the tbars a little
-1inch body lift from roger brown
-pound/trim the front wheel wells slightly.

Also, you'll get better articulation with the stock tbars. Typically, you don't need the stiffer tbars unless you have a heavy bumper and winch.

Yes, BJ spacers will let you crank the t'bars back down. You can buy them from
http://www.sdori.com/. I've been running them all summer and they work great.

Search YotaTech or 4x4Wire for "ball joint spacer" and you'll find tons of info.

interesting

thats weird, i know a guy that put some downey HD 1.5" lift springs on the back of his 91 runner...and he had les schwab crank up the front torsion bars to 14 or something. he said he couldn't notice any difference in the ride!

Since this is pretty much the same question as your question in the off road section, I'm going to lock this thread and move it to the off road section. Once there, an off road moderator will merge it with the other one.

Thanks, I think the bj spacer is my first option. I talked to Roger yesterday and I agree with you both, the 1" body is needed. I'll probably order it this week.
