1990 pickup 33x13.50? Rims? Lift? Performance? Help!

Hey guys! So I've had my 1990 automatic Toyota pickup 4x4 3.0 v6 xtra cab for about 8 months now and I finally got some cash coming in to throw at my baby.

Before i jump in to it, this is my daily driver but I want to mod it to play in the mud (also look cooler, sound cooler, maybe do a little crawling). I'm posting this thread to find out wether or not what I want to do is possable, makes any sence, and also so I don't spend a lot of money on sh!4 that won't work. (If you can't tell I know very little about this so go easy on me)

So this is what I want: I want to put some 33x13.50 r15, get new rims, put like 3' lift, put a grill guard on, roll bar, and something to make it sound better.

So my questions: can I fit 33x13.50? What do I need to do so they don't rub? Lift? Cut the fender? Spacers?

The rims have a max load, what exactly does that mean? How much does my truck weigh? Should I be worried about weight? What are the dimension of the rims I should get? What's up with back space?

When it comes to lift is a body lift suficiant sence I'm not going for more clearance(I'm not big into crawling) how much lift do i need? If a body lift won't work, what's the next cheapest way to fit 33'?

With the lift and the tires, what do I need to add to keep my yota running like a champ? (My truck is stalk)Do I need more torch or horsepower? How do I get that? (what is that?) I want my truck to sound as BA as it looks, what should I do?

I want to do this as cheap as possable but if i need to spend a few thousand to make my dreams come true then so be it. Pleas send me some recomendations for brads, where to shop, and your more then welcome to point out how little I know lol.

Thanks,
Kevin

That's a pretty wide tire. Any particular reason for specifically that size. You can run 33's in a narrower width with little to no lift, with stock wheels.

Next look up your current gear ratio, assuming it hasn't been changed.

Start reading through the stickies. Just about all of your questions will be answered there.

I run 33x13.50 15 swamper ltbs on 15x10 rims. They suck on the street and kill my mpg. Most likely will rub at full stuff even with a 3" lift. The only reason i keep mine b/c i got them stupid cheap and they rule in the woods. I'm going to a 33x10.50 or a 34x10.50 when my tires are beat. You can fit 33x10.50 on the stock 15x7 wheels with little to no mods.

I want to try and run 13.5 cuz I like the wide look lol not the best reason but I think they'd be fun in the mud. Thanks for the link and the suggestions.

How much lift do you have on your rig?

You have a lot going on there. If you research each topic seperately you should be able to find out what you need.
But for starters the only thing that nets you more clearance is larger tires. And theres not much youre going to be able to do about horsepower. For torque you defnietly want gears since youre going with bigger tires which will make it perform like stock.
For a cheap 3" of lift you could go all body lift.
Or a combination of BJ spacers up front and spacers/longer coil springs in the back with a mild body lift.
Hope this helps get you started.

My 88 has around 4" with a sas. In my ifs days I fit 32x11.50 on 15x8 rims with a 1" body and then 33x10.50.
I know of some one who fit 33x12.50 on a 92 4runner with no lift on the stock rims. It rubed a little a full stuff. I dont like body lifts bigger than 1". 3" is ghetto and more trouble than its worth imho. Put 33x10.50 bfg m/t's if its really your dd and save up for 4.88's and a locker. The SEARCH button is the upper right its your new friend lol
