15 inch wheels
I have a 1996 sr5 4runner I was thinking about putting some 15/10 inch wheels with 35/12.50/15 on it but have been told by a friend that the 15s will mess the gears and or strip them. what is yalls input on getting 15s ? or should i just keep my 16s?

The wheels themselves will not mess up your gears. You can get 35 inch tires on 16 inch wheels too. it is the much larger tires that could put stress on the gears. Many on here drive with 35s but most of them regear also. Regearing can get pretty expensive if i am not mistaken. Depending on what motor you have you could probably get away with 33s on 15 inch rims. Just rememeber that if you are going with a wider tire that you need to take into account the amount of backspacing the wheel has. i have 32s on my truck and it has no problem pulling them around.

If your truck has 16's originally you will want to check to see if it also has upgraded/upsized brake calipers as well. This could prevent 15's from fitting. I'm not sure however, what years and trim levels had the differences in brake size. Just something you will want to verify before you spend your dough.
