4.7L Sequoia Deckplate mod.
Well, Finally got around to it!
I know there was some mixed reviews floating around wether to do it or not.
So I took out the hole saw and cut away. The 4" seemed to be pushing it with the area it needs. I went with 2--- 3inch flush vents (only cost me $8 for both) The deckplates were $17ea! This truck doesn't see any offroading or water holes & there isn't any dusty areas around here so the deck plate itself could be substituted. I also dropped in a True Flow air filter! Only took me about 30mins and there is a slight noticable difference in the sound and throttle response. I also took out the emmisions pre-filter it looked dingy anyway lol. I ran the crap out of it for an hour and no sensors went off... I know some people were thinking the removal of the pre filter and oils might cause problems, only time will tell. Hoping to gain some MPG's, will post up if there is a gain or drop in them.
Materials:
2) 3" flush vents
8) screws
rtv or gorilla glue to seal
Hole saw
30mins of labor
5) slices of pizza

Ok wife finally finished a full tank.
Was getting 260 miles on a tank with city driving,
Now we got 293 miles when the fuel light came on. Not bad for city driving.
Not sure how many gallons when she filled up but will try to gauge it on the next tank.
