Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?
Was in my email today at work from a coworker:
This ONLY TAKES 10 SECONDS
Own a Gun? Please Keep This Moving
Guess they were not happy with the poll results the first time, so USA Today is running another one....vote now
Attorney General Eric Holder has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms.
This takes literally 2 clicks to complete.
Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today.
It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro gun folks you know.
Hopefully these results will be published later this month.
This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners, with the Supreme Court's accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.
Here's what you need to do:
First - vote on this one.
Second - launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published.

But doesn't your 2nd amendment state this in black and white? And some where it says "and shall not be infringed" or something like that. I know that this amendment was created way back in late 1700s but what is this guys problem? The AG I mean?

I wholeheartely support the 2nd ammendment but I think that email has just been floating around in updated formats-if you look at the hyperlink for the poll it is four years old, it is not a new poll:

I always find it interesting that some are obsessed with the 1st Amendment’s protection of freedom of speech and at the same time are oblivious to the meaning of the 2nd Amendment. The first Amendment mentions the "right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances” and because of that, it is assumed that each of us has the right as an individual to assemble with others in a peaceable manner. Yet when the 2nd Amendment says, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” there are those who argue, “but it doesn’t mean individuals”.
Baloney, the 2nd Amendment is explicit in its meaning and it was placed where it was for a reason, for while the 1st Amendment with its guarantee of freedom of speech, religion and assembly, was of utmost importance in the eyes of the founders, it’s position, as well as it’s ability to be upheld by and for the common man was insured by the 2nd.

the right of the people..... that would be me.... It's so cut and dried, it makes me puke in my mouth when I think of the ignorant people who want to just 'ban all those scary guns' start ranting against the 2nd...
it's the fear of the unknown; get educated! 99% (give or take a bit) of gun crimes are committed with illegally possessed firearms... so what good does a law do in those cases????
enough, need to visit the link and vote before i start really ranting and get an infraction....
OK, just a little more...
Three reasons to own guns:
1) To hunt and gather food
2) To protect your family
3) To keep the king of England out of your stuff!!!!
...and to make cool loud noises...

Quick quote from one of my favorite Megadeth songs Peace sells...but who's buying?
Yes - 97%
No - 2%
Undecided - 1%
10,258,584 votes
Yes, that's 10.25 MILLION votes. I think we can call it a landslide at this point.
Tell me something...it's still we the people right?
