Yet another use for the 4runner tow hitch

Yet another use for the 4runner tow hitch
I'm getting ready to drop the lower control arms out of my 99 runner to change the bushings but noticed a problem..
I have no permanent spot to mount a vise in my garage to press out the bushings.
Of course i just removed the tow hitch from my runner for more departure angle on trails ..............after 5 yrs..........then I find a use for it a day later!
I made a mount to bolt a few different Vises to so I have a good spot to
beat on those bushings.
So far.........everything has gone smoothly but I have 2 adjuster sleeves frozen
in the bushings so I'm soaking them with penetrating oil for a day.
We'll see how the bushing install goes...........

Mine is on the bottom shelf, under my computer. Needless to say, I have kicked it a time or two.

Yes .....it will be grand to see my runner up on jack stands with the front end out and the vise sticking out of the garage from the rear with a lower control arm in it!

For what it's worth........Harbor freight sells a three legged universal tool stand that works pretty well for a vise.
Of course not if you need to beat, bang and twist on it!

Thanks for the Kudo's guys ..........
I may drill for a few different vises because that blue one actually spins and may not do the job when I have to put a cheater bar on it to press out the bushings.
I have another stationary vise that I'll drill for today.
I only used 1/4 plate but a nice pce of 1/2 plate would have been better.
I used what I had available and also used hitch tube for the mount tube and drilled left to right for a pin to keep it secure.
How funny is this!!! I was just on the Harbor freight site and they sell a hitch vise plate/mount for 20 bucks! ha ha !

Here's my stationary vise mounted on my runner while the lower control arms hang in wait of being removed.
I see a much more useful position for the vise if your turning with a cheater bar
with the vise this way.
Less give from the springs and shocks in truck.
