Yellow check engine light .........wierd maybe long
i've got a 99 tacoma 4wd v6 with 100k on it. i was pulling my 16ft tandem axle trailor the other day after i'd rewired it (let a friend borrow it for the last time). i had to rewire the plug and the trailor brakes. let me make the facts simple.
1. i was pulling the trailor without a load
2. only pulled it for 2-3 miles to make sure everthing was working right.
3. pulling in 4wd (needed 4wd to get it back in my barn)
4. i'm only pulling 6 volts in my brake contoller digital read out. each brake pulls 3 volts.
5. the plug is intact and both male and female ends are good. continuity is good and there's nothing touching inside the plugs.
6. put the trailor up, and the truck sat for 20 min.
7. i took off to a fire call and when i got the the fire station the check engine light came on.
8. all fuses are good, all fluid levels are good. it's got a new air filter, new oil and filter.
here's where i may have gone wrong. i disconnected the battery and it went away, but i havent pulled the trailor since.
any suggestions?
sorry for the long post. i tried to make it short.
thanx

Check Engine Light is in no way related to the brake, tail, or turn signal lights.
If the light comes back on, go to Autozone and have them scan for codes. Then report back here with the code #.
Until then dont worry. Enjoy the Holidays.

By disconnecting the battery, you erased the codes that were stored in memory. Its normal for the light to go off after that.
