Will this motor fit the 88 4runner?

The 4runner has a regular plain 4 banger. My buddy is selling his 7m-ge 6 cylinder motor out of his supra. Its got 105,000 miles on it. How hard is it to get into the 4runner?

that is a popular swap from what i hear, and yes that is a sweet motor. i buddy of mine has a 90 supra non-turbo thats a blast to drive, smooth power from 2500 to 6000rpms and not to much trouble to work on when your looking at the 3vze V6 like me

its been done, it fits... but there is a lot of modification involved... and most often times if you need to ask if it will fit and how hard is it, its not a mod for you.....

Supracharged

website and forum, everything you want to know is there. I had almost no motor experience when i started and i did just fine, i just had to ask lots of questions to those that knew their stuff along the way. If you get it mounted in the bay the rest is just putting in wrentch time. Check out my website for some nice video of the running motor.

I just heard that its very complictaed to do. You need a mount to get the 4runner tranny to mount to the engine. You also need speacial adapters for the engine mounts or something? I dunno...Maybe it wont be to easy

What better way to learn about engines than to do it yourself? Most all engine swaps will require the odd custom fabrication, but that's part of the fun IMHO. With so many people such as NCSU-4runner who've completed the swap, help is only a matter of posting a thread or direct e-mails.

Whatever you do, good luck with your 'runner.

I just completed a 3.4 swap. Not really any less complicated than the 7M swap. Hardest part on the 7M swap is the radiator. That is the only thing that the 3.4 has over the 7M.

Now, if you are going from a 4cyl, then you don't need special adapters, you just need mounts from an 85-older supra. If you are going from V6, you need to fab your own mounts. Sometime this year, I hope to have a starter kit. The V6 it will come with a custom bellhousing, and custom engine mounts so you can use your stock fram mounts, and some other stuff. Really not too difficult, and like others have said, there are plenty of people to ask when you run into problems.
