What damage could have been done?
I was splashing about 2ft of water yesterday, as the result, the 4runner stalled for a few seconds then started right up. Popped the hood, the air filter was wet with water. Replaced the filter, drove home...it seems to run ok now.
Wondering if there would be any damage to the engine as the result of this? What should I check? I will wash the engine this afternoon after work.
Thanks,
Nam

pull the plugs, and see if they are wet. If they are, pull them all out, and start the thing up and if there is any water in it, it should shoot out. at least thats what mine did. Dry off the plugs and stick them back in.
But if it started up and got you home, it should be fine.

Ive ran through water puddles like that before. Once I ran through it at about 50 mph...the yota didnt really appritiate that, it would idle right after that stunt. I ended up bumping pu the idle on the carb and it runs fine now.

Thanks all the replies...I think it should be fine since it started right up and I drove home with a new air filter.
I may look in to those differential fluids and see if there is water in there. What do yo think?

Since you were able to start your engine and didn't hear any unusual noises, you most likely didn't do any damage, but this is what could have happened;
