Had the window channel ones on our Tundra. They were nice, but we cracked them both putting them in. It never caused any problems, but one of the corners that fits in the window channel broke off on each side. Then again we put them on in the dead of winter.

bud,

i like the in-channel ones. low-profile, doesnt stick out, etc.

as for cracking in the corner from the previous post, theres a right way and a wrong way to put them in. possibly the winter weather made the visors too hard to bend.

take a look at my writeup (yes, i did one for this easy task): http://www.4runners.org/articles/macneil

I like the macneil weatherflectors.

I have the 3M tape ones and they look nice and offer a little more water intrusion protection but the in-channel ones do look nice and are obviously much easier to remove unlike the tape ones.
I got my Ventvisors from Pep Boys for $45 for the 4 piece set.

I've been meaning to get a set myself for a while now. Will the inchannel ones mess up the channel after a while?

Ive had both. I had the 3m stick on stule for a long time, untill some leaned into my truck and banged their head on it. I went and about the in channel "Weather Tech" ones and they were a pain in the @$$ to put in on the front windows. After I got thoes one, I removed the old broken ones. They had been on so long on the truck there were stains from the dirt/ water/ tape line. Till this day no matter what I do I cant get it all off. So to all you people out there, if you buy the tape ones dont take them off unless your ready to fight the stains. I recomend the in channel ones

Has anybody had the in channel ones for a extended period of time since I've heard that they tend to rattle and become loose after a couple of years?

I had WeatherTech's on my Dodge P/U for 4+ years. The only problem I noticed was slight scratching of the edge of the window if there was dirt on the glass or in the track when you open/close them. In channel is a much cleaner look IMO.

I had the in channel type on an Opel Vectra (GM euro box) for about 5 to 6 years, terrific items, very unobtrusive compared to the stickon's on my Toyota, gave no problems in service, but did leave the glass fit in the channel a bit loose upon removal. Not that this bothered me as the car was a write-off, I then transferred the channels to the replacement Vectra where they've been for the last 2 years or so.
I used the Clim-air brand, excellent quality, don't know if these are a Euro or US item or if they're available in your area.

My in-channels fell out when I rolled down the window and were driven over by the guy behind me. I only had them like three weeks. Plus, the auto up feature on the window never worked again.

Nice concept, poor execution. I took all of my in-channels out, minus the crushed one, and dumped them in the trash.

I had the 3M Stick on ones and loved them. Until my ex's brother rolled my truck Now I only have One side. The 3M Tape came off no problem. and didnt leaveany stains.

Anyone know if I can just buy the drivers side and not all 4 ?

I'm a fan of of the stick-on ones.

My frirnd has a 99 4runner and does get the rattling sometimes and they've made some marks from the glass.

I've had mine on for about 6 years now!

I also like how dark they are making them go great with the tint

I 've got the MacNeil WeatherTech (in channel) brand on mine for more than 4 years now.. no cracks or rattling whatsoever...Great product, the best I've seen so far...Installation was very easy & simple.. There is a write up on this particular brand in the write up section of the forum check it out...

Where's the best place to get the stick on ones? I love the look they give on tinted windows...with the all black look I'm goin for they would really help.

Sorry to hijack,

Fink

Pep Boys around here was the only place that seems to stock 3rd gen 4Runner stuff on a semi regular basis. They actually had three sets of visors for 3rd gens and I bought two of them since my mom was jealous of mine on my '97 and wanted them on her Limited.

I have the 3M AVS VentVisors. I like them better than the in-channel ones a friend has on his truck. THose are a bizzatch to get in, and dont provide enough coverage. Besides, it looks funny on the rear windows...
