yeah, not a problem. For some reason when I initially ordered it, I also thought that it came with a water pump. I think that is because there were two different "parts included" lists on the ad, and the bottom one showed an aisin water pump in the kit.
no biggie, i have one coming from parts geek
thx

okay, so i got the outlet4usa timing belt kit that I ordered from ebay today...
made in china was my first warning bell...

the box it comes in...

the timing belt had outlet4usa printed on it...ummm, uh oh...

upper idler pulley had no markings whatsoever on it

here is the one I pulled off my truck that is factory oem...

the tensioner pulley also had no markings whatsoever...

tensioner had a strange green paint on it...

thermostat 82degree C...

So, conclusion here is that none of this stuff is oem from japan, but is instead china knock off's.

What do you guys think?
I did call outlet4usa and tried all of the extensions, but always got voicemail

I'm thinking of sending it all back, as I need to trust this stuff for 100K miles or so, cause I really dont want to have to go back into the water pump/timing belt.

thoughts?

^^mmmm.... I bet it will work fine but it's not OEM.... different lookin' belt and the tensioner does seem odd with that green paint...

Does the TB have marks on it? The toyota OEM ones have nice easy tic marks to line up the cams and crank, my others (non-toyota) did not.

huge YES on the crankbolt! hahaha- 215 ft/lbs or so for the 3.4, the new one also comes with loctite on it (red hi strength for the 3.4, blue medium for the 3vz). Mine cost me $6.02 plus tax, ask me how I know that still! haha

I bought the spanner tool to hold the balancer for $65, but it looks pretty easy to make your own; I don't have a welder yet and just wanted to get it done but all you need is something solid with two strong pins/bolts spaced correctly. the spanner tool nubs are only like 1/2" if that, don't need very long pins. use blocks and/or tubular webbing against the frame to isolate the CS pulley/balancer and TORQUE AWAY!!!

Stick it in your crank and pull the wrench until it goes click....

Go to your local auto parts, and ask them to pull a few of those parts off the back shelf for you to look at. You will be shocked how many of the items they pull out that have "Made in China" on the box or item stamped. It is hard to find made in Japan or USA without paying through the nose at the dealer for it!

the t-stat is the correct tempurature also btw... 82c = 180F, exactly what is called for per FSM/dealership computer.

sorry if I'm just stating the obvious.

IF they will take it all back I would highly recommend Toyota OEM parts, the timing belt can be had for $40 and the T-stat is only about $26; biggest expense will be the WP, totally worth it for Toyota/Aisin quality IMO. not sure what the idlers would go for.

I got most of the parts for mine from toyotapartscheap.com and the crankbolt/t-stat from the dealership parts counter.

good luck, I hope you can get a hold of these jokers soon; keep us posted!

dont worry about it , seriously no biggie

I finally got ahold of them and they told me that they never said they sold oem parts...that the list was only there for reference, ha ha.
it is so decieving if you go the ad on ebay...it really does look like they are selling oem parts.
they are taking the kit back and said they would pay shipping too...so all good.

I ordered the idlers off of partsgeek, along with the "mbl" timing belt (it said it was oem)
I'm going to the dealer for the crank bolt, tensioner, and drive belts and t stat

broke the crank bolt with my homemade tool today...will post pics

That just stinks, no two ways about it.

I got this one off Ebay; I think it would help you sleep just fine. Or the aircabman that Elton got would work just fine (my drive belts had already been replaced).

Matt, it's great they'll take that stuff back.

Order this kit and crank bolt from the dealer and you'll be set:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-3-4L-...item2c5bf69ef0

or from same seller for $44 more:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-TIMIN...item2a144a37e8

The difference you ask? Nothing, but price! See, the $288 kit has all the EXACT brands you'll find in the Toyota boxes and bags. And, the $332 has those parts in the Toyota boxes and bags (notice the Toyota labels).

There is a reason this seller has sold 140+ kits at the $288 and 50 kits of the $322. Sure, you can buy all this from an online Toyota dealer like https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/catalogs.html you'll pay more (guessing 100+) and even more from your local dealer.

Good luck!

The link below is probably the easiest metal crank holding tool to make up (see post #14). It works great holding both the crank and cam. I used a 4' piece of metal and hacked off 1' to make up the short leg.

A bit of reference/perspective on the crank bolt torque:

here is my homemade tool...

just some 3/8th carriage bolts about 4 inch long, but I ended up having to cut them down...so maybe 3 inches would have been better

the board is about 4 ft long.
It broke the bolt loose just fine.

I then had to use a puller to get the pulley loose, but wasnt hard....

thx for the links, you guys are great on here

I've already got the water pump, both idler pulleys and timing belt coming from partsgeek...and now I'm running up against the clock as we have a trip up to our land in western nc next week planned with vaca days off and everything.

so I'm just going to go into the dealer to get the thermostat, drive belts, tensioner tomorrow.

I will however, save the link as my buddy with his 96 tacoma will be doing his soon....

I just wish I had asked some of these questions on here a couple of weeks ago before buying anything.
Lesson learned.
but I'm not too worried if I spend a few extra bucks here and there, as this stuff should last me 10 yrs.

thx again...to everybody on here...seriously

Definately looks good for a non-metal tool and even easier that my metal y leg tool. Either works!
Hope your dealer has the parts on hand.

At your mileage, you may want to consider cam and crank seals. Some say leave 'em alone until they leak, others say change 'em since you are already there.

you are correct, and I was thinking if I saw them leaking that I would go get seals and do them
I see the cam seals add's a bit of complexity as you need to remove the cam gear...which makes me a little uneasy.
I need to put a light up and look closely to see if they are seeping any...
