Dang, thought I had it fixed. My reverse/back up lights were not working. I installed a new neutral start switch and Wa laaaa!!! Let there be back up lights...case solved! Until last night I noticed they were not working again. Then this morning they were back on WTF!!!!!!

I have an 88 4runner SR5 V6 automatic tranny. Guess I have to start with this all over again...goldurnit!

Any thoughts?

ok after they worked again this morning they were not working again when I went out for lunch...what gives??????

You sure you didn't just need to jiggle the shifter? A ton of vehicles I've driven have a sticky switch that has to be hit just right to make the rev. lights come on.

Could the connections for the wires at the rev lights be flakey?????

hmmmm......not sure..and the lights are so dim it is tough to tell if they are on without someone behind me to look...we'll see what happens and if I get time to fiddle with it AGAIN!!!!

If all your wires are correct, good continuity, no shorts, good connections to light assemblies, good pwr and ground, etc. Then I'd look at the switch again. A lot of these types of switches have clearance adjustments to get it right. Take the switch off and operate by hand. Does it work each and every time? Just a thought from a guy passing through.

Thanks for that bit of advice. I have to admit I am not the most technically sound person. When I replaced the switch a month ago I had a buddy basically do it for me. If i'm feeling lucky I might crawl under there and mess with it.
