Wastegate came in the mail today ahead of schedule. So theoretically I could be making boost this weekend.

You do your own ceramic coating?

What brand is that wastegate and how much was it? Looks like a tial knock off.

Where are you going to mount the wastegate?

It's just 2000 degree paint, holds up well for the most part.

No name wastegate, it uses the same flanges, clamps, springs and diaphragm like a tial or turbosmart. Last one ran about 3 years before a new diaphragm was needed, $80.

Don't know where it's being mounted yet, maybe tomorrow.

Wastegate is on. Got the rest of the charge pipes mocked up and is drivable, but I took it out and floored it and blew the pipe off the throttle body, so need to get my silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps on there.

Good times man, Thats the same set up i did when i fabbed my remote mount on my 2000 runner. Fyi, dont rely on the wastegate spring for the 7 lbs, use a manual boost controller - you can set it to open whenever you want - no probs with boost creep. A big issue you will see is that with all that charge pipe going to your intake, your wastegate will already be opening at 4-5 lbs, and your throttle body will only be at 2-3 psi - its just not optimal...i know cause i spent a lot of time tinkering with it to get it to work correctly.
What are the specs on your turbo?
Im running the same turbo now as i did when i made my remote mount system. All i can say is laaaagggyyyyy as hell. With the remote mount, my turbo would only start to spool at 2500 rpm, and would only reach full boost by 3500-3700 rpm's. Now with my manifold setup - its spools at 1800 rpms and full boost by 2500-2700 rpms...10psi. Let me know if you have any q's...ive been down this road for a long while....
If you havent yet, go chek out customtacos.com and post up your project....

Yep^ thats what i was getting at earlier. Remote mount will always be laggier then a properly built manifold but it can still be drivable.

What turbo were you running?

Got a couple miles on it this weekend, it will smoke 33" tires pretty instantly, so not much lag to speak of. Still no boost gauge, maybe today.

Nice. Change the exhaust note a bit and I bet that thing will almost sound like a diesel.

It's quite loud for how small that turbo is. I am sure the remote mount doesn't help but even still. I love it.
