Tundra Sequoia Wheels on a 3rd gen 4Runner
I've searched around for info on whether the Tundra/Sequoia wheels will fit on a 3rd gen 4Runner. Most threads said that they'll fit, but there was a bit of confusion on whether the offset (backspacing) was ok for the swap. One thread said that they'll fit fine, but another said that the offset is about an inch or so off, so spacers were needed.
Anyway, I picked up some 05 Tundra wheels (5 star, split spoke). Upon closer inspection of the wheels, here's what I found:
4Runner - 16" 3-spoke specs:
16x7 15et (that's the offset, incase someone didn't know)
Tundra - 17" 5-spoke specs:
17x7 15et
So the offset seem to be the same. Another question that was raised was, the 4Runner wheels are lugcentric and the Tundra's are hubcentric, so may not fit right. If that's the case, why are there hubcentric rings on the 4Runner?
Anyway, I put them on, WITHOUT spacers or any modifications of ANY KIND. This is how they look.
BEFORE:
AFTER:
I like how they look. If you're into offroading a lot, there will be more tire choices for the 16", but since this is a commuter, I'm sticking with the 17's. REVO's come in 265/65/17's anyway, so I'm happy.
Hopefully, this isn't a repost of any kind. I really searched and searched, but could not find a thread confirming one thing or another. Ask me any questions. Thanks.

Nice rim choice dude. I really like it. These are some of my favorite OEM TOYOTA wheels. I especially like the gunmetal version of these. Again, looks great!

Thanks. I wish I could've got them in gunmetal, but got them from a friend for really cheap, so can't complain.
I have no rubbing issues at all. I went over some bumps, and cranked the wheel all the way and no rubbing. After I get some REVO's on there, I'll report again, but right now, with the tire size of 265/65/17, no rubbing.
Also, I must apologize about the picture sizing. Photobucket resized them automatically, I guess, and they came out really small.

Thanks for the compliments.
Fuzion - I looked at your new wheels thread, but all your pictures came up as a red X. Mind posting a couple? One of your pictures did show up, though. It was just the painted wheel. I'd like to see how it looks on the truck.

i took the wheel spacers off my gx470 rims and have no rubbing at all with 265's. 285's would def rub on the uppper control arm. it drives a ton better also. a little more tippy though.
edit: hub centric??? my gx wheels are def lug centric.

Ok, maybe I have a misunderstanding of how to tell if a wheel/hub is hub or lug-centric. Can you explain?
*edit: This is what I found with a little research:
"Let's take a moment to discuss the difference between LUG-centric and HUB-centric wheels. Using lug nuts that are rounded at the inward point centers a lug-centric wheel when the taper mates with the counter-sunk taper of the wheel stud opening....
Wheels that are centered by the open center hole on the wheel's hub are hub-centric. This is the method that the TR7 uses to mount and center its wheels. The hub extends, in most cases, into the open hole on the wheel center and matches it's opening. Additionally, the lug nuts are also matched with the wheels, as the lug nuts are usually a longer cylinder shape that inserts straight through the matching lug opening."
This would confirm that 4Runners, as well as Tundras, have hub-centric wheels and hubs. Correct?

I have a question about the Tundra/Sequoia wheels. I just bought a set for my 2000 4Runner and was wondering if I could use my factory lug nuts or do I need a different style? P Nut, did you use your factory 4Runner lugs?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

No, I didn't get the gun metal. Couldn't find a set for sale. First I bought a set of Lexus GX470 wheels but I have always liked the Tundra wheels on a 4Runner so when I found a set fairly cheap on Ebay I bought them. Now I need to sell the Lexus wheels which are in fantastic shape. Mine will have 295\70\17 Nittos mounted on them in the near future. Thanks for the quick response. I do need to post some pics. I love the color combination on your trucks and the wheels look awesome. Way better than stock!!!!
