TRD locker operation

TRD locker operation
I am considering purchasing a '04 TRD Tacoma, and tried to test the locker operation. With the truck in 4Lo, I pushed the button. The locker light flashed, but never went solid on. I drove it about 50 ft straight forward, light was still flashing. I did not want to do any more because I was on pavement.
Is this the correct sequence for engaging the locker? Should it have engaged & light gone solid on? Any other suggestions for testing? To my knowledge, the "grey wire mod" has not been done to this truck. Thanks!

This is really the only slight down side of an e-locker. It can some times be a bit frustrating to engage. The light needs to be solidly on and the ABS light will also light up showing that that system has been bypassed. Every one i have used was a bit different but all had a little trick to make it lock faster. My 99 needed to be put into reverse to lock. I would give it another shot.
BTW I would not worry too much about the pavement. At low speeds (less that 5mph)on smooth pavement it should be fine. Once locked the inside rear tire will chirp a bit when you turn and this is actually a good way to check that it is working properly when looking to buy.
E-lockers are super tuff and the one you are looking at (04) should still be under warrantee any way.
