Towing__ High performace or Dud? ? ? ? ?

Hey Guys ____I’m trying to get this straight , if you got ____ rig ( a)_____ a stock 84 toy.5sp ,22r,with 410s and 235s,(WERE TALKING TOWING ONLY),compared to _____ rig(b), same year but, with 529s ,lock rights f/r, rear leaves in front ,chevs in back,7in.sus. Lift and 2 body, 35 tires(and assuming the mods were done right) . Is the towing capacity of rig (b) reduced due to the high performance parts, and mods???? ___ THANKS BAYRUNNER

what the hell? if those are variables, there isnt a way to tell....

should be able to tow just fine if the overall ratios and everything are even to each other...

however tow what becomes an issue, as most tires in a 35" size have lower load ratings with a lower maximum pressure than smaller tires

What do you plan on towing??? If your talking about towing a 14ft fishing boat down to the local lake and back your fine. Now if your talking about towing a fifth wheel or something, get a v8.

And the only thing different in your comparrison would be about a 1' drop hitch....

[[Is the towing capacity of rig (b) reduced due to the high performance parts, and mods???? ]]

Yes.
EVen though the re-gearing restored your power to comparable with stock, the increased leverage due to tire radius is putting extra strain on your axles and bearings when accellerating and on your brakes when stopping, so the ultimate strength and pulling/stopping ability is reduced, in Real World performance and safety terms, not just theoretically... Then you have the lift to consider, the vehicle itself will not be as stable and if you're really worried that towing whatever you're considering towing will be pushing the limits, better consider this too. As long as you aren't trying to tow something big and heavy enough to be at or near the limits of capacity, don't worry about it. But be aware of it.
