I currently have 265's on my 4runner and I will be getting new tires soon. What is the size difference between 265's and 31 inch tires?

Here is a conversion table. If you have 16" rims they are slightly larger than 31". Most tires aren't the actual size, different companies will call their tires a certain size but they are usually off by .5" or so. If you want to know the true size most companies websites will have all the data. Conversion

265's are a 32x10.5 tire....31's are obviously a 31x10.5" tire

Don't the 265/75s measure 31";I guess I can go measure mine?

265/75/16 = 31.6" which in tire terms is a 32" tire. A typical 31" tire will only measure about 30.6 or so which would bump it up to a 31" tire by industry standards.

Use this link to calculate the actual size of your tires (+/- a bit). You can also figure out how far off your speed/odo will be with non-stock tires &/or rims.

265 only refers to the section width of the tire in millimeters measured from sidewall to sidewall when mounted on a specified width wheel. The '75' is the height of the sidewall expressed as a percentage of the section width. A 265/75R16 is thus no wider than a 265/75R16, but it will be taller.

Ooops...I guess that's the OEM size for the newer trucks (I have a '98 Taco with the 15' rims). What I was trying to say is it's meaningless to ask what the size difference between 265's and 31" tires is...some tires are both 265's and 31" (like mine). Sorry for any confusion.
