Tire Gap...?

Helloooooo,
I just go my downey adjustables put in and to get the same wheel gap as the rear (ome lift) we had to crank them all the way up. Supposidly they are a 4" lift. Unless the TJM weighs it down a full inch I'm killing my CVs. So, my question is guys with 285s what is your wheel gap measuring out to? Just making sure I don't kill my CVs. I have a steering rack to replace and I just paid a thousand dollars to find out what the hell was going on and replace a bad ignition coil so I don't really want to be buying some bearfields or however you spell them.
Thanks a bunch!!

Austin,

You didn't happen to take any measurements before you swapped out the suspension? On my 98, I was getting 34.5" from the ground to fender, but I didn't take top of tire to fender measurements. 4" will definitely kill your CV's. I got some grease splatter with 3" even including the 1" revtek diff spacers. I'd crank them down a bit for sure. If you put the 891 HD springs in from OME, you might get a little more than 3" inches of lift, depending on what you have for gear in the back, but I doubt that you got a full 4. Search around for my lift install thread, I posted a picture of what my CV's looked like before and after with my SAWS. That'll show you what the CV'S look like with 3"+diff spacers.

Thanks guys,
I'll measure tomorrow morning from both. The downeys are definately a lot softer than my OMEs though. I don't know if the shocks that are on it now are shot or if bouncing that much is normal. I can move the truck a good inch or two just with my weight pushing/pulling on the tjm and it bounces up and down a good 3-4 times before sebtling. With my old setup It would maybe bounce once. I know they say if it bounces around your shocks are shot, but could it just be because of the soft nature of the setup added in with the extra weight of the TJM? I hope it doesn't get worse when I get a winch not to mention sag anymore than it is. Well... more tomorrow... its time to start
Thanks again!
