-I should have done a write-up but I was lazy and didn't think anybody else would be doing this-

HA - I just did this a week ago....was able to get the upper ball joints out and new ones in without removing the knuckle - took me 4 hours with press/puller from Autozone! closest I have ever came to taking it to a shop to have em do it!
Yo Dr.Z do you have a part number for that tie rod end puller??

Oh. I just figured I would go ahead and pull the knuckle completely since I had the press and the cv's are so easy to pull, otherwise I'd a dunnit just like you with the puller. I used a 2 jaw puller on the upper to pop it off the a-arm for the drivers side but the passenger side proved too much for the 2-jaw and I ended up using a pickle fork. those Harbor pullers arm cheap!

I like to use a 5lb sledge myself.. Sometimes you just need a good hit..
BTW.. what the heck are you using WD-40 for?? Are you trying to get the water off the tir rods for the PB blaster to work in better?? Toss that WD-40- tries to get it right, and buy a real penetrating oil.. PB Blaster all the way...

Screw it I just decided to make a webpage for the pics of the jigs and offer a little explanation: And oh yea, I didn't mention that I used a S-load of PB blaster on the nuts and the pressfits about a week before I was going to do the work. then the night before I soaked them again and then again just before I did the work. that's maybe why it was so easy for me.

You're only doing the Lower? haha, man that's the easy one. My page doesn't cover the lower. If you are doing the upper too, soak it good too. the lower is just remove the four bolts, pop the outer tie rod out of the flange, pop the balljoint out of the A-Arm, bolt the new one to the knuckle with the four bolts, bolt the BJ to the A-arm and torque it, then bolt the outter tie rod onto the flange and torque it. done. you do have the torque values for the bolts right? I can get you those to if you want.
told you there was a page Cebby!
EDIT:
This PIC has almost all the torque values, use the numbers at the end inside the paranthesis, they are ft-lb unles they say in-lb in the diagram. The outer tie rod to the lower balljoint flange torque is 67 ft-lb.
Sorry for all this info. I can't sleep so...
