I test drove a ton of 4Runners a few months ago and the only advice I'd give is to NOT get the leather seats. Toyota's leather sux.
Almost every single Limited I drove had dry, cracked, slippy leather seats.
The side of every driver's seat had a cracked hole.

The cloth stands up much better (my '97's seats are in perfect condition)

I have leather in my 99 with 112k. Only the sides of the driver;s seat are starting to crack. That started from the PO lack of care.
The leather in my 99 is

Oh, I can have the two-tone painted one color for about $500 (in VA)

I suppose if the leather was maintained it might be better, but still wasn't anywhere as nice as the leather in my g35

The limited flares are different than the sr5 flares... The limited flares extend to door caps and there are sideskirts as well...

Differences from the years: sport hood, grill, tail lights, factory wheels... Also SR5's have the option of a manual transmission whereas no limited's came in manual...

and if you get a limited, you can always paint the flares and bumpers.

i went for the limited for the leather, power seats, sunroof, and climate control. the multi-mode 4wd was another kicker for me. in 99-2001, the black limited models have OAK trim, this funky metallic tan color. in 2002, they went back to a silver color. all sport editions are monochromatic.

oh, and my leather is in perfect shape in my 99 and it just turned 149k this morning on the way to work.

yea mine is in good shape, except for 1 tear which came as a result of my old wallet's sharp metallic clip....

quick question: what do you guys use to clean and treat your leather?

i just clean a couple times a year and then condition it right after cleaning.

usually meguiar's or something similar that i can pick up at wally-world. as long as you keep it conditioned after you clean it then it will last quite a while.

in the summer, i also use a shade in my front window when parked outside.

now it spends most of it's days in the garage and i drive the honda to work.

I use Meguiars leather conditioner on mine. Seems to be holding up well.
