This is still going to happen. I just haven't seen a good how to write up yet. I will do some grinding and fitting this week. Did I mention I love air tools. I'll keep you guys updated, but it isn't an easy mod, atleast not as easy as I thought. Thanks for the links and info.

There will be some cutting going on this weekend, at least that's the plan. See what doesn't fit and chop it off a little at a time. I agree with you Mr. Goat, a good seal between the shrouds and that it gets mounted is the important part. I will keep you guys informed.

I have the shroud ready to go in the truck. I mounted the fan inside in the aluminum shroud I made. I have enough clearance for the Water pump. I have to trim some of the plastic on the fan to prevent hitting the radiator when the fan/shroud is installed. It's coming together and it is going to work. I haven't seen to much info on the Taurus fan on the 3.4. There are a few sites I did see thanks to you guys. I did very little cutting on the Taurus fan. Most of my cutting was on the aluminum shroud plate. I'll try to get some pics if anyone is interested?
Marc, how did you hook up the mechanical temp gauge? I can't find a port for the temp gauge. Can I drill a hole in the block and use super glue or JB weld

Here are some pics of my home made shroud. You can see the lip I may have to cut. I had the fan mounted on the outside of the shroud, but it hit the water pump. I trimmed the shroud to stick the fan inside the shroud, now it looks like it will fit without water pump interference. I might get by without trimming the edges on the fan. You can see this in the pic of the fan side ways. It should work out, but taking a lot longer than I thought.

I'm shocked by how big it is, is that the same size as your 3.4 radator? Are you going to use some kind of seal around the outside to draw the air through the radator?

Any of you guys heard of the Perma-cool set up? I just did it and was able to use the stock shroud. The install wasn't too difficult at all. I went with a fan and controller that a bunch of Taco owners have done. An 18" fan with a probe style controller (comes with the A/C relay and a adjustable temperature built in). I ended up spending $180 flat for the entire job.

I cut down my fan bracket about 1" behind where the pullies mount using a cutoff saw. I had to remove one of the studs holding the fan bracket closest to the alt so the alt belt could clear. I plan on taking off the bracket and milling down where the nut seats and installing a bolt.
Not running a fan currently, it was around 25F last night and the temp stayed in the normal 50% position... Will probably do timing belt/water pump install elec fan and mod the old fan pulley bracket over the holidays...
I'll post some pics once I get a new reader for my camera...

Do you know the details of what you've got to do electrically (thermostat/thermoswitch) to control fan's operation?
