Suggestions for tires for BEACH driving?
Anyone running tires that they use to offroad in the summer on the beach? I have been looking at the MT Baja MTZ but am open to whatever. Any thoughts??

Don't have much beach time but I do have some ISDRA time. 285 BFG ATs at 10 psi do extremely well. I can pretty much get across anything.
The biggest difference between the beach and the dunes is the beach is harder packed so theoretically you'd have better traction. But sand is sand, and it is definitely a unique surface to drive on.

ditto, bfg a/t's or super swamper trXus sts will be your best bet, a rule of thumb on sand is the more agressive a tire the faster it will dig down most of the time

your lookn for the maximum footprint aggressive or not because if its big enough it will float, even the smoothies dig......i personally like dick cepek fc series n the sand of course if you have power than you can go more aggressive and actually dig some.....

My friend has them on his GMC 3/4 ton. He pulls a toyhauler to & through the dunes and they do ok at a low psi. But that isn't really comparing apples to apples, vehicle wise. They're a pretty soft compound and I think they wear a lot faster than BFGs. I've got the Terra Grapplers on my F350 and they dug in a little faster than his Dune Grapplers. FWIW.

BFG A/T or M/T, Nitto dune grapplers and TG's are popular down here, and TRXUS STS are suposed to be good too. Any less agressive tire is going to be good, like the Wrangler A/T-S or Yokohama Geolander A/T2.

as mentioned above air down, air down, air down, 10 - 12 psi i've used plain "soccer mom" tires on the 4runner at OBX to pull an ford explorer out before. Did I mention air down?

in the sugar sand and beaches of florida, my mud terrains werent the best, but my terragrapplers do really well... i would be interested to know how those dune grapplers work, prob. much better than you would think

Beach driving is simple. Don't stop, and don't floor it. If you have to stop, stop in rocks, or wet sand so you can get going again. Just take it easy, air down your tires, and use 4x4, and you'll be golden.

All good advice so thanks for that. It sounds like a MT tire might not be a great option then if I want to be on the sand? I was looking at the new Mickey Thomson MTZs, would these still be too aggressive?
