Sub + amp in... thump..... thump..

put my sub and amp in on monday. got a 10" MTX thunder series (6000 i think) 500 watts. its in a custom box from MTX that fits behind my seat. its hooked up to a 600 watt kenwood amp, and then my kenwood headunit.

i didnt think it would be that loud seeing as it's only 10". well i was very suprised... it hits about as hard as my friend's truck and he has 2 12's. outside of the truck though, its not as loud. but inside its great... must have something to do with my little tiny cab.

If your box is sealed and his is ported or bandpass, then that is probably the reason that his can be heard outside the truck better.

my sealed sub is the same way i don't mind though b/c thats what my catback is for (besides the performance of course) and besides i don't want the police to pull me over for something petty like that.but if you really want to have it loud on the outside u should get a bigger amp which would also mean replacing your wires w/ bigger gauge wire kit

rpeAMP- yeah my box is sealed. i dont really care about anybody hearing it outside anyways.

Jason - no digital camera still working on getting pics of my truck on here. once i do, ill take some pictures of my stereo too.

A+ - new exhaust is one of the things on my long list. might just cut it off somewhere after the cat. lol.

oh, and i forgot to mention. after it was all hooked up, there was a nasty rattle.. so i just threw an old towel between the box and the back of the cab. problem solved.

I am installing 2 12" JBL's and a Kenwood Excelon 1000 watt amp this weekend, maybe next weekend. Depends on what I have going on this weekend. Will provide pics after it's done.

MTX Thunder 6k = awesome. My bro had one untill it got stolen and it shook his entire Camaro to the extent that he thought his back window would shatter. Only pushing it with 600 watts too.

One 15" does it for me.
I can turn the bass volume seperatly with my Sony deck to the point that my seats feel like they are moving in their tracks.

Does wonders for a back massage going down the road.

Very old pic...

I'm working on getting my friends 2 JL15w6 and his 2 JL 500.1 amps but we'll have to see about that. I just bought a new head unit so I'll have pics sometime soon. Right now my 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC 12"s are okay with my Sony 800 watt amp.

His is louder because the sound wave of a 12 is longer, thus takes longer to extend...so you hear more outside the car...I bet his also dramatically gets louder with the windows down

You can get a disposable camera and the place developing the pics can but them on a CD for you. My dad does that all the time - likes having film and digital images...

I don't know I had 2 JL 10's that you could here down the street, with an old Punch 60ix. I hit a 130 with that setup once. I think it depends on several things.

Anyone remember when CV made the 17" Stoker sub?
(they probably still make it)

Anyway, that thing was huge. Magnet weighed in around 50lbs or something, could hand roughly 2000watts...etc.

I've got a single 8" Polk db in a sealed box. Gives me plenty of low-end...enough so I hear the whole sound spectrum.
