Steering rack bushing RE: washer

Hey, a quick question for those that have done the poly u steering rack bushings. The stock bushing on the driver's side has TWO washers. One on the nut and the other between the rack and the cross member. However, the new kit only comes with ONE washer. Are you only supposed to use one? If so, on the nut or between the rack and cross member? Perhaps I should go buy another one.

I will try to get a picture of what I'm talking about later on today. Also, for anyone feeling intimidated about doing this, it's not bad at all. I have put this off for 2 years (my original receipt says 9/2007!!), but would have done it sooner if I knew what was involved.

This is a good write-up:

You can reuse one of the OEM washers (the one on the rear side of the cross member). Mine was in fine condition. IIRC the second (front) oem washer is NOT reusable because it's bonded to the oem rubber bushing. I guess you could replace the rear washer, but there shouod be nothing wrong with it.
edit: the stock metal tube is also bonded to the stock rubber bushing. IIRC the washer and the tube are one piece in the stck setup. the new poly bushing kit comes with separate washer and metal tube. I guess this is because it's more expensive to make them one piece and because they'd have to include more than 1 of them in order to cover various models.

Thanks, Mtn Mike. I totally forgot that I still had the OEM washer. I'll use that. Appreciate the input.
