runner front diff--
ok, here's the deal--i cannot seem to find in the huge amount of info on runners what keeps the output shaft on passenger side of front diff solid(without endplay) or goes bad to allow endplay--or even how much is too much--my problem is a very strange noise and i think i've traced it to that point, however, all that slop has 'not' knocked out my grease seal which i find very odd, and there is one other possibility that the noise might be coming from the inside thrust bearing on the spindle as it is loose(thanx to jimrockford for his great tech writeup)--do i just open the punkin' and look around? is it something that is done from the outside, like the seal? anyone?

Could you be talking about the axel shaft knocking noise? I have a knock or rattle that I have traced to worn axel shaft/spindle bushings. Havent had the time to replace them yet. Is this what your talking about or something different?

yeah, i was wondering the same thing which was the reference to jimrockfords writeup--https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/jimrockford_spindle/jimrockford.htm--
really a very good piece of work, but i'm not satisfied that the noise is coming from there as he gives a recording of the noise that it should make and mine is very different--(i believe that i have had that noise from my toys also)--
thanx for the thought, though--i've pulled the diff now it's time to just take the damn thing apart, i guess--one of the few things i haven't seen the inside of on these beasts--
