Rough idle after knock sensor replacement

I'm having problems. After all the work of replacing my knock sensor wire, i start her up only to have it stall. It will keep running if i press on the gas, but at lower rpms (below 2k or so) it idles rough, and sounds like i have cams. It seems to drive fine, but once i take my foot off the gas to take a turn, it stalls.
Another thing you should know, i think i dropped a piece of my old gasket into the intake chamber. I tried getting it out, and tried looking, and i gave up and put everything back together. I almost finished, but didn't, and went on a 2 month trip, came back, finished, and it runs like this. I had almost a full tank when i left, so i'm wondering if this rough running has anything to do with sitting for 2 months, or because of the gasket piece i might've dropped. I took everything apart again today, (well just the intake plenum) and the fuel rails, and i shined a light in each hole, and didn't see any gasket piece. So could the gasket have gotten past the valve when i started it? (the gasket would've been on top of the valve before starting) I don't know what to do, please help!! I miss driving my truck!

How's the timing? Are you sure the timing belt didn't move one or both cams when you removed/reinstalled the upper idler pully? I've heard of a couple of people having this problem when removing the intake manifold.

I think it probably did move the cams, but i looked at the cam gears and both were pointing up, and the notch on the crank was at zero. (this is tdc right?) i turned the motor over for a few complete revolutions and all the marks still lined up after that. I'm not positive on this procedure, but does that sound right? If one of the cams was off a tooth, would this explain my problem, and how do i fix it? This is frustrating, i need money and i need my truck to go back to work to make money. damn.
