Ok folks, I just measured the spoiler... and then used the brake light to as the centering device since its centered on the truck. After I made sure that was lined up I measured how far in on the tailgate the spoiler sat. Once I made sure those were even, I drilled. Turns out its straight and centered. Parked next to another runner the other day and looks the same. So i guess Im good

The parts didn't cost much, I didn't end up using those screw taps I was talking about previously as lowes had self tapping metal screws. And after i drilled the screw in i saw that the screw was tight on the hole and was strong enough to hold itself in.

The thing that helped line up the spoiler was I put a piece of painters tape over the brake like and measured center on it. once i put the marker lines on the tape it was easy to line up the hole for the brake light.

I did take the screws out and paint the stripped hole so it couldn't rust.
