Rear coil spring recall, setting the record straight...

Assuming they meant 3rd gen's...not sure though.

TOYOTA:

"On vehicles eligible for the rear coil spring recall...

4WD: Replace both bump stops, both rear coil springs

2WD: Only the bump stops"
So there you have it guys. Direct from Toyota. I know many of us have been told different things about the recall, so, if your recall falls within a one-year time frame, and was done incorrectly, you are eligible for them to make it right, free.

FYI.

I would agree with the 4WD statement.

wow....

So, If I'm THINKING correct (i've got to look at the reciept for the work) - ONLY the springs were replaced on my '98...NOT the bump stops. Does this mean what I think it means? REDO?

HUmm.....I think for some reason I got charged for the springs when they replaced mine..... My dad took it in when I was gone and he showed me the invoice

PERFORMED RECALL ON REAR SUSP
PART NUMBER
TOY 04001-45135 KIT, HOLLOW SPRING AN $87.08
TOY 04001-45435 KIT, COIL SPRING $52.50

PARTS $201.96
LAB-MECHANICAL $82.50
TOTAL CHARGE FOR CONCERN $284.46

So did I get ripped off????

I want to go in and talk to them but don't really know what to say. "Humm....you charged me for a recall???"

Stupid people!!!

They replaced both my coils and bumpstops on both my and my roommate's 2wd 4Runners My coils were sagging pretty badly so that might be why they replaced them too, but I don't know about my roommate's.

They should have never charged you for the recall, unless it was done previously with the "corrected" parts.

Nah I was stupid and didn't realize it said right below that the factory paid for it or something. My dad didn't even remember if he spent 284 bucks or not lol.

Just call the dealer with your VIN and ask if you are eligible for any recalls. I dont think 99's have any recalls though.
