Problem with something when steering

1987 4runner 22re 30in tires

when i turn my wheel all the way to the left and start driving i hear a really bad poping noise coming from the passenger side up front. any ideas?

could it be my struts or my shocks? now my alignment is worse too. too much mudding, its addicting (and only on a/ts)

i doubt its shocks..... it sounds to me like you are hitting hte steering stops...

i thought of this too... but wouldnt that just make a noice when i first hit it and then not make a noise again? cuz this is a bad, bad popping noise, and i can feel it in the steering wheel a little

My steering stop sometimes will make loud noises, but sometimes they dont. Just have a look at your tie rods, idler arm, pitman arm, etc.


Are you hubs locked?

its the steering stops, i promise you. nothing to worry about. when you have the wheel cranked they rub together keeping the tire from rubbing the fender and are adjustable(not very much) incase you get larger tires. they are just two pieces of metal rubbing together and do no push the wheel back away so it will continue to rub making the noise until you turnt he wheel back towards center

than how come this doesnt happen when i turn the wheel all the way to the right? is this becuase of my bad alignment?

sometimes the steering stops dont hit even at full turn... sometimes they do..... my truck makes a couple clunks on turns.... my ragjoint on the box clunks also as i have a steering extension and the steering stops also hit making noise

It could be because the steering stops for the right side are in good condition and the ones for the left arnt.
