Power Loss problem
Hey guys, I notice that when i go uphills and sometimes on flat surfaces.. the truck doesn't want to go any faster than im going, if i go from 80km/h to 100km/h and from there it doesn't want to go any faster, i floor it and it doesn't want to move. It feels like its gonna go faster, then dies down. Could this be a problem with the transmission or flywheel? Sorry i didn't explain it properly, but hopefully somebody will understand what im trying to say.

well, i had a problem with the starter before, that it kept trying to start the truck while its already started, had that replaced.. and a mechanic friend of mine said it might be the tranny giving you problems now, had toyota take a look at it, they said the truck is normal... im getting a tune up done next week, ill take a look at the fuel filter. Any more suggestions? thanks for the help guys!

Get a diagnostic done and see if any codes are stored. Sounds like the infamous MAFS problem to me.

Do you have a link with information about this?
Thanks!

Sometimes codes are stored despite the lack of a CEL. Let us know.
BTW. The fuel filter is really easy and should be done anyway. I doubt that is the cause, but I thought I would mention it.

Hi guys, Canadian Tire doesn't pull codes for free, so what I thought I should do is take it to Toyota and get them to check out everything (a full diagnostic) on the truck. Do you think thats a good idea?
Also about my starter issue, do you think that when it was cranking the starter (even if the truck was on) constantly it would wreck something else? eg. Tranny, etc etc.
Thanks for the help!

i had a problem with my mass airflow sensor (MAFS) recently. i was on the highway doing 70, and getting it up to 90 to get in the fast lane was a chore.. it hesitated a couple times, or would suddenly burst forward at last. this also happened at lower speeds going between like 25 to 40.
get that checked out.

Im still wondering about the starter issue? Would that affect anything else?

by the way, if you bought any kind of extended warranty, make sure you check if the MAFS is covered if it needs replacing. turns out the warranty i bought covered it, saving me around $250 to 300 bucks.
