Please allow me to introduce myself...
Hello to all,
I've been reading/lurking these forums for the past few months but I've recently signed up and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Dave, and I live in Ironwood, in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Last October I purchased a 1995 pickup, primarily to replace my rusted-out F-150 as a daily driver/work truck, but also as a weekend toy to get me out into the woods on the countless miles of logging and forest service roads in the area.
Since it's primarily a work truck/DD, my first mods have been in that direction. First thing was the topper to keep my tools out of the weather. Next came a set of Hella FF1000s- I drive about 550 miles/week, and during the dead of winter it was dark both ways, so I needed more light. I've been very happy with the Hellas; I replaced the 55W bulbs with 100W, and the lights still barely get warm.
I live in an area with a pretty heavy deer population-- overpopulation actually-- and deer crashes are common, so the next thing was the ARB bambi bar. Got the winch mount model, so someday....
The next thing will be tires but probably not until summer as I'm pretty well tapped out now. The truck came with a set of Tacoma alloys with BFG Rugged Trails on them; they were pathetic in snow but fortunately the PO included the original steelies with narrower firestones, which are much better in snow. That's what's on the truck now. I want to get a set of BFG A/Ts but wheels are a problem: my 15 X 6 steels are too narrrow for 31s, and I only have 4 of the Taco wheels, so I'd need to find another as I don't like having an odd sized spare. Also, 245/75 x 16s are more expensive that 31 x 10.50 x 15s. So I'm not sure what I'll do. But I have time to decide, because I still have lots of rubber left on the tires I have now.
And of course I have a wish list: Expensive things like a winch and a rear locker; moderate stuff like onboard air, sliders, and a Budbuilt transfer case crossmember; and some cheap things: diff breathers, sway bar discos, maybe an Allen Jensen style snorkel.
I've attached a picture of the truck as it looks now.
Cheers,
Dave

I suppose I should join the welcoming comittee as well. You've come to the right spot. Very nice ride. Start gathering you're $$ together, the fun has just begun.

Yeah, thanks for all the financial "advice"! The ironic thing is that I told my wife that a small truck would be more enonomical than buying another full size! What a crock! I could have bought 500 gallons of gas with what I spent on the bumper and lights!
But she really doesn't mind, she wants me to be happy, and I haven't had a vehicle worth tricking out for a long time, since way back B.K. (before kids). In fact, she actually made a couple of heavy modifications herself: a litter basket and the all-important clip-on vanity mirror for the right sun visor. No trail rig is really complete without one.
BTW, the truck isn't a Tacoma, but the last year of the older style truck.
Cheers,
Dave
