Hey Gadget,

I don't know if you saw my response to the LSD stuff over on ODW, but I wanted to let you know that a Detroit Trutrac is an LSD and NOT a locker.

Randy's Ring & Pinion can hook you up. The Trutrac for our application is around $379 I believe. Also, it replaces the entire carrier, so it's pretty beefy.

how does the tru-trac compare to the eaton posi's? I found an eaton for about $400.

Well, the Trutrac is a Gear-Driven LSD while the Eaton uses Clutch Packs to achieve the same end. I'd opt for the Trutrac because Clutch Packs can wear out. I'm sure the Eaton is strong and well built, but I'd still put my money into the Detroit.

Iv gone through several clutch type posies! There a mess, but they work rather well! Dont know much about the gears though. What do you suggest on the locker topic (sorry for the off thread!)?

I'm going to get a Trutrac at some point for the rear. I would rather have a LSD than a locker since I drive on the roads more than off. I want better hook-up from the main drive wheels. Plus, even off-road the Trutrac will be of benefit. Hell, I may save and do both front and rear at the same time. Decisions, decisions...

If you guys look at my sig, you can see that I am running the Tru-Trac already. I really like it and it will spin both tires pretty evenly. I have even had the chance to run it in the snow a few months ago and it does fine. I went with it because I had very good luck with my Detroit locker in my trail Runner and wanted a limited slip that would never wear out. I don't have any complaints about it.

I bought my Tru-Trac off of 4x4 wire's for sale board and got it for about $300. It was brand new and the seller was going to get a full locker instead. I put it in myself with a bit of setup help from a friend of mine here in Phoenix. I have had it in for about 8 months and really like it back there. I really don't do any off-roading besides the dunes or cinder hills, but it really does work well in those places. I ran up to Flagstaff over New Years and ran it in the snow. Two-wheel drive is a blast because the rear really likes to skate around. Once you put it into 4, the truck can take off like it was on dry pavement because 3 wheels are getting full power. Other than that, I am really happy that I have put it in.

P.S. It also helps out when I run the truck at the dragstrip!!!

I had an LSD in my Supra and snow was fun in that car. I miss the hook-up you get from one. It's like a lot of power is wasted with an open dif.
