the trxus m/t isn't a swamper, it's a mud tire, hence the name. i personally would not put swampers on my truck unless it was being used frequently offroad (like multiple times weekly). They wear very fast on the road and are terrible in rain and compact snow. With the high cost of them, I'd much rather have the M/T.

if you can afford 2 sets of tires i would get a pair of swampers, and get something else for on road, but if its a daily driver, i wouldn't.

I had the SSR on my 4Runner and I`ll never use them again, it`s a 2ply sidewall and that was the first thing that cut when I went crawling. I also had the bias (standard) swampers on my first pup and talk about loud, annoying noisy tires. Really rough riding to! IMO radial mud tires are the way to go. Less noise, smoother highway running, and last a whole lot longer. IE: BFG M/T or Goodyear MT/R

I had the SSR's and had all kinds of problems... balancing, blowouts, etc I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.
The TRXUS MT is getting better reviews though (for an Interco Tire), although it is listed as a heavy tire so that makes me wonder if there is going to be issues of balancing.

For hard offroading bias is the way to go for sure. I have 34 inch LTB's on my truck and they handle whatever is thrown at them. But if you are driving alot on the highway and not thumping hard on your truck off road, radials are more than adequate. Just make sure you do a lot of question asking about all types of M/T's. There's alot of knockoffs out there.

I currently have a set of Hankook RT01 m/ts on my truck and I love them. They are aggressive offroad, strong, super quiet on road (for a m/t), and wear well. Best of all they are pretty cheap too. Best bang for the buck I have found so far for a daily driver/weekend warrior type rig.
If you are looking a getting into more hardcore offroad stuff then TSLs or similar are a great tire. If you are buying tires based mostly on looks then you will probably hate bias plys on the highway enven though they are better and generally stronger offroad. |

I've run SX's and regular TSL's on my trail rigs... NEVER on a daily driver, unless you're a glutton for punishment. Bias ply tires don't stay round unless they're in motion...
BUT... IROK's and SX's will kick your run of the mill MT all over the trail... YES, this goes for MT/R's and BFG M/T's too!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah... but so-and-so runs MT/R's on such-and such.. Sorry... but for MY type of wheeling, MT/R's don't self clean well.... SX's and/or IROK's will more than likely be my tire of choice... That also said, I currently have 35" MT/R's on my 80, BUT, I'm switching to some IROK's as soon as they wear down enough.... woo hoo...

I run el cheapo mud king xt's they work fine for me on and off trail. This is my 2nd time buying them and I like them.
I wish I had waited though they came out with a new sidewall design on them this year. The nice part mud kings are made by cavilier a spin off company of BFG so you get a older BFG tread design it a pretty good tire for the money. They gouge like all other radials offroad but they are alot less expensive I got my 33x12.50's for about $100 a peice. My friend runs swamper boggers they are great offroad hands down but he runs them on MRT Beadlocks he takes it strictly offroad he will not drive it in the winter with those tires on it unless it's really deep snow. most Bias ply swampers are not for your average daily driver so a radial is more desireable. I think I am just repeating what other have said here. It is clearly up to you what style of driving you consistantly do so make a choice based on it.

i think those smaller irok sizes are mainly geared for the mall crawler crowd, who would run a 33" tire on 20" wheels?

Oh... and Boggers are great for MUD, but have ZERO lateral traction. Scary when sidehilling!

How much would you say a 32" Hankook dynamic mt goes for? And did you ordered yours or got em at a tire shop? |

IMHO anything with tires that big (that's a street/trail purpose vehicle) is just that... a TOY. A local guy has a F250 on 49" IROKS, and trust me... it's ALL for show..

i ran a set of TSL radials for a couple years. 33x10.50's. awesome tire offroad. took my mostly stock 4runner everywhere i wanted it to go.
yea they wore down quicker than street tires would, but i didnt notice anything crazy. i adjusted my driving style to prevent too much wear and tear. on the highway they were damn loud. as long as i kept them balanced and rotated i didn't have much of a problem with vibrations. don't think i'd do it again as i see much more pavement time than i used to. and i think i paid about $100 a tire, very cheap if you ask me. |

Pretty much what people have said already, if you are going to be doing LOTS of offroading swampers are popular. If you take them on the road, they practically melt away.
A tire that never gets any attention, that I have had in the past that makes for both pretty decent on and offroad useability and decent price are Goodyear Workhorse Exrta Grips. Here is a link for them: http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyea...ea=Light+Truck I got an easy 62k out of my set. That isn't a typo. 62,000 miles with no problems. The only knock I had against them was at highway speeds they had an odd feel to them going into turns like they preferred going straight. Otherwise, jump on the popularity boat and get a set of Wrangler MT/Rs. I love mine, but they are more expensive. |

i prefer the road characteristics of my bias 36" TSL's to my radial 33" BFG's. They ride smoother, and i like the hum of my tires. Ill never buy anything that doesnt say "Interco" on the sidewall again
I dont have personal experience with the trXus M/T's, but know a couple people who run them, and they like them. They are still just an MT, but they handle good on road and in rain, and they wear well.
