OME 881s Installed on 2001 4Runner
Allright, so my buddy Robby from TTORA came down yesterday and it took most of the day but we removed my stock coils, and added OME 881s. My original setup was stock coils with a .75" inside spacer and a 1" top out spacer. The stock coild began to sag, and I was basically back down to stock height. I may add a winch one day, and I wanted to get my height back, so I used the OME 881s and the .75" spacer on the inside again, and the 1" top out spacers. The springs were tought to do, they had to be almost fully compressed to get on the strut, and they were a PITA to put back in. But we did it, over all I am very happy. I did my diff drop a few weeks back, but I may take out the 1" top out spacer and opt for the 1/2". The front look s alittle high, but it should settle some. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I like the ride much better, but the OME coils was about 2.25" taller than my stock one, that is how badly it sagged. Here are some pics, and like I said, any suggestions comments or questions would be great.
Before(with stock(sagging) coils and 1.75" of spacers) on top
After(with 881s and 1.75" worth of spacers) below
The setup on top of the coil
The CV, and everything else under the truck

Jason it looks sweet! 295's got your name all over it.
just one question, how did the front sway bar like the height adjust? are you running a longer sway bar end link bolts?

hmmm, good point on the sway bar. There was plenty of thread left on the tops about .5" when I started. I had to disconnect the sway bars, and the ?lower ball joint" to get enough play in the control arm to fit the strut into the bracket. The thread is basically topped out on the sway bar, but it rides decent. I am going to do sway bar discos soon, so I'll check out the options then. As for the 295s, they are sweeeeeeet all the way around, but I'm trying not to kill my gearing and gas mileage, 285s seem like a good compromise, but they are still just a thought. Thanks,

Jason, lookin' great, definately 285s or 295s would look sweet.
Two things:
Did you put on a dif drop when you did this? The CVs look a bit tight.
Also is is sitting totally level?
It looks a hair high in the front in the pic but that might be an illusion?

yes, I did put in a 1" diff drop. The front right now sits about .5" higher than the rear, I am waiting to see if the front settles, as the springs were only 1 day old in the picture. If not, the CVs did look a little high to me, I will porbably take out the 1" spacer on top of the strut, if it doesnt settle much. I may opt for a .5" spacer from andy instead. It is a little higher then I wanted to go up front, I really want the whole thing to be level. I have heard stoires of the 881s settling a lot, and some settling not at all, I'm going to give it a week or so yet, and I'll porbably try to beat on them a little, but I have a feeling no spacer or a .5" spacer is going to be what end up happening.

Allright, after 3 weeks, the front has settled about 1/2" which is about what I expected. To me the truck appears to be level, and it looks just as I wanted it. The CVs have been holding up fine, the boots have no tears or anything like that. Here is a side shot for comparison purposes.
Finally had a decent day here in Jersey, so I decided to wash it up, and ride around with all the windows down. I'm thinking now I definately have the rooms for the 33s I'm thinking about this summer. We'll see how it goes though.

Jason, that looks way better after they settled.
You can always use some spacers to give it a slight rake if you want.
Can't wait to see it with those 33s!!!

If you don't feel you NEED 33's on there then I'd save yourself the agravation of setting that up and all the bugs that need to get worked out when running those. I think your truck looks great as is and you are definately going to use more gas pushing those 33's if they are not a must have in the looks/performance category.
No luck on a quad yet but I'm still looking. I definately narrowed my search down to only Hondas with 350cc or larger, 2001 or newer and must be 4WD. I talked to a few people who ride up here year round and the first comment was 4WD is a MUST HAVE. So I will heed their advice.
I like the sound of that Honda Recon....is it 4WD? Year? Motor? Any pics?
