Odd wiper issue

so today I go to shut off my truck and I accidently bump the wiper switch. the wipers get to the top of their swing when they stop, and won't go back down. I flipped the switch a few times and it doesn't change anything. So I check the wiper motor and it is not getting power. I pull all the fuses and they are all good, so I try the switch one more time and it works.
I would rather not have that happen while going down the road, so I am thinking of replacing the wiper switch incase it is bad. Would that be a good move or could it be something else?

EDIT: this is on an 88 pickup.

Sounds like the contacts in the switch might be worn and a new one might be more relyable but that is only my guess.
