New Muffler and Cat
Well I just got my new Magnaflow 2.25" muffler... 18"... and my new Magnaflow carsound highflow cat also 2.25"... both off ebay...
I do have a 22RE 4Banger and I have been readin a few more posts on here and some people have said the 2.25" might be to big??
Is the 2.25" piping going to be ok? Or is it to big? I am planning on gettin some new Thorley headers... and I bought a new 268 cam and timing chain kit from engnbldr's website...
Will the 2.25" exhaust piping be ok with this? For those of you who have the 22RE leave some comments please!
Thanks
Ian

Quit wasting your time and get it on the truck!!!
Oh...by the way...mine got a little deeper sounding over the last week, guess it needed to burn off some insulation material. Smelt funny the first week as it "tempered".

2.25" exhaust is just about perfect on these Toyotas. I went with the Jardine cat-back since it uses mandrel bent pipes and most local muffler shops don't have the right benders to do that. I had to ditch the 3" chrome tip because it was too ricey though. Since doing the open element air filter and the 2.25 cat-back my gas mileage has jumped to almost 20 mpg average with the 3.0 V6. I want to do headers but that will have to wait until my Z28 restoration is finished. My Jardine has actually gotten quieter over time and it's a straight through muffler.

With the 2.25" exhaust on an 89 22re 4runner would I have to make any modifications in order to get it to fit. Also, would 2.25" headers be the right size? I'm looking to make any performance mods I can without spending too much money.
